He was born on April 28, 1915 in Montpelier, Idaho, son of John Eugene Jewett and Ada Ruth Romero. He married Irene Curley in 1938; and Elna Lue Green in 1999. Roland served three years in the U.S. Army before World War II and spent 35 years working for the United States Army as a civilian ammunition inspector traveling to Italy, Okinawa, Germany and Viet Nam and serving numerous stateside assignments. He loved his work and his family accompanied him to all postings except Viet Nam. He retired in 1972 and moved back to Salt Lake City with his wife, Irene. He returned to his favorite outdoor activity, fly-fishing on small obscure streams in Idaho and Wyoming. Roland is survived by his wife, Elna Lue; sons, Spencer Roland (Linda) Jewett, Denver, CO; Gary Eugene (Pamela) Jewett, Columbia, SC; daughter Maureen (Simon) Seikaly of Salt Lake City; stepsons, Edward (Stacy) McDonald and Dennis McDonald; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, six step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene; his brothers Ralph Emmerson, Victor Loraine and Donald Keith Jewett; his sisters, Ruth Spackman, Mae Jean Divine and Phyllis Jewett. Funeral services and interment will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
