Born Dec. 2, 1915, in Etna, Wyo., to Arthur Raymond Clark and Ida Emma Weber Clark, she was the eighth child in a family of 10 children. When in 1918 a flu epidemic hit Star Valley, Wyo., she was preceded in death by her mother and two baby brothers, all within one week. After the passing of her mother, a wonderful woman named Annie Weber came to help with the Clarks’ eight young children. Two years later her dad married Annie, who brought five more children to the table, and they raised this loving, hard-working farm family together. She attended schools in her youth in Star Valley and Logan. After graduation from Utah State University, she served a 22-month mission to the Texas-Louisiana Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later in life she served two more missions, one to New York with her husband, Ray, and another at the Atlanta Georgia LDS Temple with her sister, Alta. She also served as a temple officiator for 7 1/2 years and worked tirelessly as a temple worker both in St. George, where she spent several winters, and in the Logan LDS Temple, where she often traveled from Bear Lake; she stayed during the week in order to be able to serve fully. Wanda married Ernest Howell in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they made their home in Fish Haven, Idaho, where they adopted a daughter, Dorothy. Ernest died after eight years of marriage and Wanda went to work in the Logan LDS Temple as the secretary to the temple president, ElRay L. Christiansen. After returning to Fish Haven, she met her future husband, Ray Stock, whom she married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1953. To this union was born two sons, Clark and Barry. Barry preceded her in death as an infant. Wanda influenced the lives of hundreds of schoolchildren as she taught elementary school for most of her life. She was a lifelong church worker and filled innumerable church callings. A shining example of Christ-like service, she was an extraordinary and tireless caregiver and was not happy unless she was serving someone. In addition to being a fabulous cook and homemaker, she loved her garden and got great satisfaction from sharing her plentiful produce with family, friends and neighbors. She loved being a mother and grandmother and her son, Clark, and grandchildren, Scan and Corey, were the love of her life. Wanda is survived by her son, Clark (Linda) Stock of Fish Haven; daughter, Dorothy Gerber of Logan; two stepdaughters, Connie (Alan) Francom of Salt Lake City and Mary Ann (Larry) Jaussi of Hurricane, Utah; a stepbrother, Mondale (Beth) Weber of Salt Lake City; 20 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ernest Howell and Ray Stock; her infant son, Barry; stepdaughter, Colleen (Arlen) Wilkes of St. Charles, Idaho; brothers, Wilford, Walter, Byron and Gerald Clark; sisters, Hilda White, Hazel Jacobson, Florence Clark, Neva Humphreys and Alta Griffeth; stepbrothers, Eugene and Brian Weber; and stepsisters, Lorraine and Amy. As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she has gone home to the arms of her family members who adore her and her loving Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in the St. Charles LDS chapel, where friends may visit with family from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Fish Haven Cemetery, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
