She was born June 16, 1921 to Christian and Sophie Schif Feinauer in Montpelier, Idaho the youngest of 11 children. Ruth moved with her family to Salt Lake in 1932. She graduated from Granite High School and attended LDS Business College. She married her high school sweetheart, Alvin Bennion, September 15, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 35 happy years together before Alvin died June 21, 1977. Ruth worked as a legal secretary for many years, having been employed by the Utah Department of Public Safety and the Utah Supreme Court. She retired in 1983 and enjoyed traveling, bowling, golfing, reading, and working in her yard. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her "Senior Friends." She was a member of the LDS Church and served in various positions during her lifetime. She treasured the times spent with her children and grandchildren, especially the Sunday dinners and holidays. She is survived by her son, Brent Bennion; daughters, Shauna Bennion and Lauri (Ray) Kelley; grandchildren, Robert Herrera, Michelle Herrera, Jayson Bern, Jaynee Herrera, Andrew Weeks, and Heather Kelley. She is also survived by her sister, Pauline Schiffgen; and her son-in-law, Eloy Herrera. She is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 10, 2006, 12 noon at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive. Friends and relatives may call from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the Senior Friends Program at St. Marks Hospital, 1200 East 3900 South. Published in the Deseret News on 1/8/2006.
