Spencer (Olga Johanna Reinhold) died January 23, 2006, in the Logan Regional Hospital surrounded by members of her loving family. Jean was born to Martha and Rudolf Reinhold February 26, 1911, in Annaberg, Saxony, Germany. She and her sister, Gertrude, immigrated to the United States in 1926. She resided in New York until moving to Bear Lake, Idaho, in 1934. Jean married Thomas Horsley Spencer on January 23, 1933, in Gloversville, New York. He preceded her in death in 1973. They were sealed in the Salt Lake temple. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. She fulfilled many callings in the church during her lifetime, and was an avid temple attender. Jean was appointed postmaster of Dingle, Idaho, in 1945, and served until 1979, for a total of 34 years, the longest duration of any Dingle postmaster. She had resided in Logan since her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with members of her family and returned to her homeland of Germany twice. Surviving are her six children, James (Dorothy) Spencer, South Ogden, Utah, Arlene (Edward) Hanson, Fruit Heights, Utah, Thomas (Carol) Spencer, Orem, Utah, Elaine (Jonathan) Daines, Nibley, Utah, Dennis (Renee) Spencer, Pocatello, Idaho, Fay (James) Roberts, Gladewater, Texas; 32 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren and six greatgreat-grandchildren; and her brother, Ralph Reinhold, Salt Lake City, Utah. Preceding her in death were her husband, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one greatgreat-grandchild, her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006, at the Logan 18th Ward Chapel, 502 East 300 North in Logan. Friends and family may call Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Paris, Idaho cemetery following a short graveside service at 3 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
