Grunig, 70, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Ogden Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born in Nounan, Idaho on August 20, 1936 a son of Herman L. and Susie Dukes Grunig. He married Deanna Deakin on June 10, 1957 in Pocatello, Idaho. Gary graduated from Box Elder High School in 1955 where he excelled in football and wrestling. He attended Utah State University and then joined the Marine Corps for three years. Gary worked for Thiokol and Morton International as a production manager, and retired after 34 years. Surviving are his wife Deanna, Brigham City; one son, Robert L. (Lisa) Grunig, Garland; one daughter, Geri Shaw, Penrose; five grandchildren, Crystal Phippin, Logan (Stephani), Colten, Dalton, and Shaili Grunig, and one sister, Cherie Garfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Susie. Gary lived his life for his family and friends - always strong and proud. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 12:15 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. Family and close personal friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
