Delsa was born in Manard (now Fairfield), Idaho on August 4, 1926, to Joshua and Elizabeth Robinson Thurber. She was the fifth of six children. During World War II Delsa left home (Gooding, Idaho), to attend nurse's assistant training at the National Youth Administration War Training School in Weiser, Idaho. While there, she met and fell in love with Ross Tippets, whose family lived on a ranch in Georgetown, Idaho. When Ross was discharged from the Army because of the death of his father, he and Delsa were married in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on Friday, April 13, 1945. They never considered Friday the 13th to be unlucky. The newlyweds lived on the family ranch in Georgetown for about five years, and while there they were blessed to have two children. Ross accepted work at Hill Air Force Base at Ogden, Utah, and they lived in that area for about 20 years before returning to Bear Lake County. In total, they had nine children, including a daughter, who was stillborn. Delsa had a love for life and a love for people. She was active in and very much enjoyed the friendships she made through her participation in local art groups and the local poetry club, "The Pesardero Poets.” She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities in the church, including Relief Society president, Primary teacher, visiting teacher and road show director and script writer. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother and grandparent. She was known for her willingness to give away almost anything she owned, if she knew the recipient would enjoy it. She loved being with family, and her children and grandchildren have fond memories of spending time with her. Delsa was preceded in death by her son, Cory (who passed away in 1975), her parents and all her siblings except for Melva Sparks, who is living in Bennington, Idaho. She is also survived by her husband, Ross (currently living in the Bear Lake Manor in Montpelier); her children, Terry (Karen) of Omaha, Neb., Diana (Charlie) Abadi of Van Nuys, Calif., John (Nancy), Susan (Clayton) Robinson, Jean (Arlen) Alleman, Trudy (Bruce) Brown all of Bennington, Idaho, and Judy (David) Wilde of Mink Creek, Idaho; 39 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled on Thursday, October 27, at 11 a.m. in the Bennington LDS Chapel. Friends may visit with family at Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier Wednesday evening, Oct. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Georgetown Cemetery.
