He was born May 7, 1917, to Emil and Rosa Stocker Grandy at the family home in Paris Canyon. He married Edna Munns on Nov. 24, 1939, in the Logan LDS Temple. He retired from service with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, where he worked for two different agencies for 36 years. He graduated with honors from Utah State Agricultural College where he was a member of scholastic fraternities, Pi Gamma Rho and Alpha Zeta. DeWitt was a laboratory instructor for three years while attending college. He was interested in athletics and was the Collegiate Rocky Mountain Conference wrestling champion while attending college. He never lost a high school wrestling match while attending Fielding High School at Paris, Idaho, where he graduated. He was a veteran of World War II, where he was in an anti-tank unit attached to the infantry. He was very interested in livestock, gardening and landscaping. DeWitt is survived by his son and daughters, DeMont (Pam) Grandy of Cokeville, Wyo., Geraldine (Fred) Duersch of Logan, Glenna (Jim) Carter of American Fork, Lynette (Richard) Zobell of Lyman, Wyo., Denise (Jerold) Knight and Judy (Marvin) Biggs, both of Hyde Park; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Edna; two sons, Bryce and Glade; his parents; and siblings, Ruth, Weldon, Wallace, Grant and Drew. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, in the Paris Ward chapel, where friends may visit with family that day from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. The interment will be in the Paris Cemetery with the services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
