Surnames: Kelsey, Wallentine, Sparks, Kunz Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hd.2ADI/1698 Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 07/13/06 MONTPELIER — Benjamin O’Niel Kelsey, 96, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 10, 2006, at the Bear Lake Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility in Montpelier, Idaho. He was born on May 11, 1910, in Paris, Idaho to Stephen Robert and Margaret Ann Wallentine Kelsey. He was the youngest and last surviving sibling of 15 children. He married Chlotele Jane Sparks on March 8, 1937, in Soda Springs, Idaho. To this union were born four children, Larry, RosAnn, James, and Robert, making seven children with three from her previous marriage. Chlotele passed away on Jan. 5, 1971. He later married Nathel Cook Kunz in April 1975. She passed away on June 10, 2004. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings over the years. His life and passion were the outdoors, his horses and mules. He loved working with horses and went on many riding trips into the Bridger Wilderness over the years. He was an active member of the Bear Lake Rangers for many years. He enjoyed riding his horse with a string of pack mules in many parades over the years and participating in the Bear Lake Oregon Trail Rendezvous. Ben is survived by his seven children, Beth (Boyd) Swenson of Logan, Utah, Roscoe (Dora Lee) Caldwell of Ovid, Idaho, Darwin Caldwell of Chesterfield, Idaho, Larry (Ann) Kelsey of Paris, Idaho, RosAnn (Dale) Nealis of Idaho Falls, Idaho, James Kelsey of Delta, Utah, and Robert (Nila) Kelsey of Paris, Idaho; one stepdaughter, Lola (Robert) Williamson of Richland, Washington; 25 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Montpelier LDS Third Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with family at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m., and burial will be in the Paris Cemetery, under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
