She was born in Ovid, Idaho, August 12, 1908 to John Peterson and Johanna Marie Sorenson. She enjoyed her early life on the ranch until her high school years. She then moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from LDS High School. Dancing was her favorite recreation. It was at a dance that she met Franklin (Frank) Marcus Stansel, who won her heart. They were married July 27, 1930 and sealed in the LDS Salt Lake Temple January 16, 1956. His employment took them to Tacoma, Washington and Spring Canyon, Utah before returning to Salt Lake City. Two sons, John and Howard, blessed their lives. She took pride in their accomplishments. During her life, she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Friends would find Vineta working part time at Penny's or keeping her house immaculately clean. She loved flowers and her garden on Michigan Avenue was a place of beauty. A longtime member of Yale Ward, Salt Lake Bonneville Stake, she is lovingly remembered for her friendliness and happy spirit. She is survived by her son Howard and wife Karin (Texas), daughter-in-law Renee (CA), 14 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, five sisters, husband Frank, son John Charles and great-grandson Corey Matthew Cummings. Services will be held Saturday, April 7th, 10:00 a.m. at the Crescent View 30th Ward, 89 East 11000 South. Friends may call at 9:00 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment at Mt.
