Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Matthews, King, Stucki Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.bearlake/2044/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 04/19/07 PARIS - Sharp King Matthews, 79 passed away at his home in Paris, Idaho, on April 17, 2007, from natural causes. He was born on September 9, 1928, to Harvey K. and Florence King Matthews in Liberty, Idaho. Sharp was the oldest of five brothers and sisters. He attended school in Liberty and Paris. While at Fielding, he participated in sports and met the love of his life, Jane Stucki. They were married in Liberty and later had their marriage solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple. While he worked for the creamery, he and Jane raised cows, but when the creamery closed he went to work at Monsanto. They traded in the cows and started raising purebred Suffolk sheep. They spent many years traveling the country with their sheep; while doing this, they made many great friends. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had many opportunities to serve: Bishopric, high council, ward financial clerk, home teacher, missionary and temple worker. Sharp and Jane served a mission to the Chicago Temple, and served many years as officiators in the Logan Temple. Probably the greatest joy in his life was his family. Whether it was a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild, he would try to attend as many events as he could (especially the sports). He loved to hold the babies, and everyone made it a point to bring them to see Grandpa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, sons, Howard and Kenneth, parents, brother, Samuel Murray and wife, Kathy, and brother-in-law, Robert Stephens. He is survived by his children, David (Maxine) Paris; daughter-in-law, Glenda, Idaho Falls, Shauna, Blackfoot, McKay (Adele) Orem, Utah, Marge (Gene) Knutti, Montpelier, Jeanna, Paris; foster daughter, Avalon Beaks Knight, Newtown, North Dakota; 22 grand-children, 26 great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren pending; sisters, Colleen Stephens, West Valley City, Utah, Gail (Glen) Rich, St. Charles; and brother, Kelly (Marylyn) North Salt Lake, Utah. There will be a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2007, at Matthews Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at noon in the Paris LDS Church. Friends may visit with family prior to service from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Paris Cemetery. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
