He was born November 30, 1950, at Soda Springs, the son of Frank and Pearl Stock Fryar. He was raised and educated in Soda Springs, and had also lived in Georgetown, Idaho, Council, Idaho, Provo, Utah, and Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from BYU with a bachelor's in computer science and electrical engineering. Charles married Diana Lee Layman September 6, 1974, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He was a member of the Soda Springs LDS Third Ward. Charles worked in computer science, law enforcement and college, teaching astronomy and physics. He was in business with Dr. Murdoch in developing Easy-Way Software for businesses. He was a huge "Star Trek" fan; he enjoyed computer design and inventions, physics and astronomy. He also liked cats. Charles is survived by three sons and four daughters, Charles F. and Rebecca Fryar II, Boron, Calif., B. Jackson Fryar, U.S. Navy, Kenneth J. Fryar, Fruitland, Utah, Heather M. and John Gavin, Logan, Utah, Heidi and Josh Bronson, Hinkley, Utah, Sherree A. Fryar, Fruitland, Utah, and L. Camille Fryar, Fruitland, Utah; also surviving are 10 grandchildren; his mother, Pearl Fryar, of Soda Springs; and a brother, Michael S. and Lori Fryar, Gresham, Ore. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 18, at noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Randy Hubbard officiating. Friends may call on Sunday evening, July 17, at the Sims Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., and on Monday at the stake center from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
