She graduated from Fielding High with the class of 1936. She loved to sing and participated in many school contests, graduations and church affairs. She married Dee Belliston; they were later divorced. On April 4, 1970 she Married Milo D. Heiner. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. He died in 1987. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and the great granddaughter of Apostle Charles C. Rich. She was a member of the Morgan 4th Ward and an endowment name extractor. She loved music and nature, especially her flowers. Surviving are her daughter, Deean Belliston Hicks and four grandsons of Layton. Also surviving are her sister Ora Bunderson of Montpelier Idaho and her brother, Dr. Owen S. Rich of Provo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Blaine K. Rich. She was born on December 8, 1923, in Bloomington, Idaho, the second of eight children born to Thomas Jefferson and Ruth Dora Hulme Dunford. She was married to Thomas Jay Nelson on August 29, 1951, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended elementary school in Bloomington, Fielding High School in Paris for two years, and graduated from Montpelier High School with the class of 1941 as valedictorian. After receiving training at the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, she was employed by the Beneficial Life Insurance Company. Later she graduated from Utah State Agricultural College (now USU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She did postgraduate study at the University of Idaho, Moscow. She was a teacher for six years and taught in the elementary school in Willard, Utah; Rigby High School, Rigby, Idaho; and Fielding High School, Paris, Idaho. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different capacities in the ward and stake auxiliary organizations. She and her husband served in the Canada/Winnipeg Mission, 1984-85. They also served together as stake missionaries, guides at the Paris Stake Tabernacle and specialists in the Family History Center. She worked with various community and service organizations and committees, including Farm Bureau, Parent-Teacher Association, American Cancer Society, Bear Lake Education Foundation, (committees for the Bear Lake County Centennial, America Bicentennial, and Paris Tabernacle Centennial), and with the Bloomington City Planning and Zoning Commission, later serving as city clerk-treasurer. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Fine Arts Literary Club. She loved music and participated with various choirs and singing groups and enjoyed playing her electric Hawaiian guitar and organ. She spent much time reading and writing, and keeping family, personal and historical records, and scrapbooks. She served as a stake history specialist and as county historian for Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a speaker at many funerals and other occasions and wrote scripts for programs. She enjoyed homemaking and gardening and was a sports fan. Nadine is survived by her husband, T. Jay of Bloomington, Idaho; four daughters, a son and foster daughter and their spouses, Ruth and Marc T. Baker, American Fork, Utah, Julia and Brian T. Rowland, Ovid, Idaho; Joyce and Rick L. Ellertson, Farmington, Utah, Gay and Kyle J. Hyde, Logan, Utah, Reed J. and Debra L. Nelson, Charlestown, West Va., Cheryl and Leon Hansen, Parker, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brothers, J. Hulme Dunford, Thomas J. (Joan) Dunford and Joseph W. (Leah) Dunford; sisters, Leah (Gerald C.) Christensen, Ann Marie (Ned C.) Budge; sisters-in-law, Carol Dunford and Nola Dunford; and brother-in-law, Lewis C. Elison (Dona). She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert M. Dunford; sister, Elaine D. Elison; sister-in-law, Vera H. Dunford; and brothers-in-law, Edwin F. Rogers and Paul C. Parkinson. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the LDS Paris Idaho Stake Center under the direction of the Bloomington Ward. A viewing will be Friday evening, June 3, 2005, from 7-9 p.m. at the Matthews Mortuary, Montpelier, Idaho, and two hours prior to services at the Paris Idaho Stake Center. Interment will be in the Bloomington, Idaho, cemetery.

"Doc" Costello, 78, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005, at the University of Utah Medical Center of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Jim was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Peoria, Ill., to Edward and Helen Fuller Costello. He spent his childhood on his grandmother's ranch in Carpenter, Wyo. Jim graduated from high school in Seattle, Wash. After high school he enlisted in the Army and served in the Pacific Theatre in WWII. Upon discharge from the service, he went to work for the U.P. Railroad. Following that. he attended Colorado State University, earning his undergraduate and his 1955 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degrees. In 1956 he opened his vet practice in Montpelier, Idaho. At that time and for many years after he was the only vet from Jackson Hole to Bridger Valley. Many remember Jim traveling in his vet truck. He would hold small animal clinics in court houses, beauty salons and taverns in Kemmerer, Evanston and Lyman. He would spay and neuter cats and dogs on his ironing board operating table. Large animal work made up the majority of his practice. Many ranchers housed him overnight while he traveled from ranch to ranch. Calving season brought many late night calls. His daughters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and neighborhood friends remember many good times accompanying him on his vet calls. Jim was a hard worker and joker. He and his family have a farm in Montpelier where they have many fond memories. He enjoyed playing practical jokes on friends and family. He always had a good joke to tell. He loved reciting, "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" and "The Cremation of Sam McGee". He was an avid reader and liked to argue politics. Jim is survived by his wife Jina, his daughters. Jeanie (Stan) and Tippy (Kyle), and four grandchildren, Emily, Blake, Maria, and Royce, and many nieces and nephews and one special niece, Big Jeanie. Funeral mass will be officiated by Fr. Carlos Felipe Velez on Wednesday, June 1, at 11 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The rosary will be said on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Matthews Mortuary after which friends may visit with family from 7 until 9 p.m. The interment will take place in the Olivet Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyo.

She, with her husband, built 14 apartments, a candy shop, and ran a reducing salon all in Holladay. She was a very generous person to all, and was always grateful to those who helped her. Leah inspired a lot of people to start their own business and gave them the confidence to go ahead with it. She enjoyed attending the temple. Survived by children, Avon (Jim) Stoll, Hal, Ray (Aloa), Sheila Hirschi, Gary, and Diana (Robert) Larson; 31 grandchildren; and 85 great-grand-children. Preceded in death by her husband, and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday at 12 noon in the Holladay 4th Ward, 4917 So. A man of principle, he lived life honorably and on his own terms. He enjoyed the outdoors and the company of family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Veronica; son, Mark (Julie) Lowe, daughter, San-dra (Blaine) Holt, both of So. Jordan, UT; stepchildren, Donald Hulsizer, West Valley City, UT, LouAnn (John) Vandomburg, Salt Lake City, UT, Michelle (R.T.) Lapp, and John Martin, both of Wyoming. She was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Oakley, Idaho, to Martin Wyndon and Elizabeth Matthews Cranney, the second of five daughters. Carol received a teaching certificate from the Albion Normal College in Albion, Idaho, in 1940. She began her first teaching job in the elementary school in Bloomington, Idaho. She married Glen Passey Ward on April 9, 1942, in the Logan LDS Temple. Nine children, two daughters and seven sons, were born to them. In 1948, they settled in Paris, Idaho. Carol was a devoted, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, filling many callings in the Relief Society, the Primary, the Young Women and the Sunday School. She spent several years directing the stake genealogy name extraction center and as a guide in the Paris tabernacle. She served a full-time mission to the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission and was also a temple worker in the Logan LDS Temple. Carol is survived by her sons, Wyndon (Julie) and Keith (Pam), both of Richmond, Utah, Milton and Kendell (Sonia), both of Paris, Brian (Sheri) of Glendale, Ariz., and Dale (Edie) of Brigham City, Utah; her daughters, Mary (Rondo) Erickson of Clearfield, Utah, and Marcia (Mark) Wilson of Bloomington, Idaho; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Drury of Providence, Utah, and Diane (Jim) Herndon of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; a son, Kim; two sisters, Rachel and Kathlyn; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, May 16, in the Paris Stake Center. Dean enjoyed the outdoors and loved hauling wood from the mountains and spending time with his family. Dean is survived by his wife, Lois, of Bloomington; three daughters, Linda Lois Wilson, Rose Marie Ortega, both of Colorado, and Norma Jean Peterson of Montpelier; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was born September 15, 1915, in Evanston, Wyoming, the son of Frank Sarafina Modula from Brooklyn, New York, and Norma Blanche Smith from Evanston, Wyoming. He married Naomi Elizabeth Taylor in 1937, and later divorced. He married Adell Hoff on May 28, 1955. Dooley worked on the railroad in Evanston until World War II. Flying was Dooley's first love. He was a pioneer aviator. He bought his first airplane with a down payment of a rifle. When World War II started, he immediately enlisted and was accepted as a cadet. He spent the war at Merced, California, as a flight commander. After the war he built and operated the airport in Evanston, Wyoming, and managed the airport in Kemmerer. In 1950, he and his partner, Harold (Pete) Pederson, bought the Hacienda Supper Club, which he owned until his retirement in 1976. Dooley was an artist. He enjoyed painting and woodwork, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed the outdoors, the cabin on the Lake and winters in Mexico. He was very versatile - if it was fixable, he could fix it. Dooley is survived by his wife, Adell, of 50 years; four children, Jeanne (Fred) Riggs, Lawrence Raymond Modula Jr., Patricia Lee Swanson, Shawn Daniel (Annette) Modula. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Burton Modula, and one great-great-granddaughter. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 14, at 3 p.m., in the Montpelier Cemetery, under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.

He died in 1945 in the South Pacific during WWII. From this marriage, she had two children, Stanley H.(Sandra) Hill and Barbara Stromberg Beveridge Hill. She then married Ray Elmer Durant August 10, 1946 in Grand Rapids, MN. He died May 3, 1999. Of this marriage one child was born, Lois June (Danny) Roth. She was preceded in death by her husbands Bill and Ray, her daughter Lois June, her parents, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by two children, 12 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was born November 15, 1923, in Lanark, Idaho, to Newell Beck and Mary Smith Passey. He served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 16, 1943 to Feb. 7, 1945, as a Seaman 2nd Class. He enjoyed all sports, bowling for awhile on various leagues in Montpelier, but golf and cutter racing were favored. On Dec. 18, 1982, "Passey Brothers" took first place in A division in the Rocky Mountain Cutter Association in Montpelier and second place in the World Cutter Association in Elko, Nevada, in 1983, with the cutter team of Plain Good and Go Oscar. Harold retired from the State Highway Department of Transportation in Montpelier, after many years of service. He then took up golf and other things to enjoy his retirement. Harold is survived by one son, Terry R. (Patsy Ludwig) Smith of Montpelier; four grandchildren, William Terry (Kathryn) Smith of Little Elm, Texas, Angel (Todd) Boehme of Geneva, Idaho, Tyler (Charity) Smith of Montpelier, Rachele Smith of Pocatello; seven great-grandchildren, Gerrad, Cody and Ethan Smith, Dallyn, Tawnalyn and Terryn Boehme, and Wyatt Smith. He is also survived by six sisters, Edith (Doyle) Matthews, Ellen (Don) Clark, Ruth (Claude) Mendenhall, Faye (Elmer) Wilcox, Joyce (Wynn) Brown and Doris Rogers; two brothers, Newell Darrell and Dennis S. Passey; and one sister-in-law, Lois Passey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Leda Bradley, and one brother, Roy S. Passey. Now, mother will really know who had been stealing the chickens. Jason was born on July 15, 1972 to John Mark and Margaret Jamison in Logan, Utah. Jason was raised and educated in Cokeville, Wyo. (Near Montpelier, Idaho) where he graduated from Cokeville High School and LDS Seminary. Jason earned his Eagle Scout award. He served an honorable mission for the LDS Church in Hartford, Conn. He was a leader and an assistant to the Mission President. Jason married his eternal companion, Sherisse Hoth, in the Logan LDS Temple on Dec. 28, 1993. Together they had three beautiful children who he loved very much. Jason had a special love for his wife, children, family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his boys, teaching them and enjoying all the times they had together, especially on horses. He loved camping, hunting, going on vacation, and making the most out of life. He loved his little girl, who he always called "Katie" or "beautiful." Jason loved the gospel and served in many church positions as a leader. He loved working with the youth. Jason was a hard worker who was very goal oriented and succeeded in all he did. Jason's love for people made making new friends easy. He got along with everyone and never spoke negative of others. Jason worked with Grange Construction and later enjoyed being a sales associate with AFLAC Insurance. Jason is survived by his wife, Sherisse; and their three children: Brody Mark, Payden D., and Katelyn Jo Jamison. He is also survived by his parents; John Mark and Margaret Jamison, Smithfield, brothers and sisters; Jenifer (Kelly) Hoth, Smithfield; Jeromy (Rachel) Jamison, Logan; Jeana (Justin) Kelly, Midway; Julia (Gary) Dent, Richmond; Joshua Jamison, Smithfield; and Jarin (Ashley) Jamison, Smithfield. Jason is survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who loved him greatly. Preceding Jason in death are his grandparents; Glen and Grace Gamble, Hazen and Barta Jamison; and a sister-in-law, Kathrine Hoth. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, at 11 a.m. in the Smithfield Stake Center, 600 E. 120 South. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, May 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main Street, Smithfield, and prior to the service on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. She was 73. Mom was born November 7, 1931 in Montpelier, Idaho to Joseph Lawrence and Helen Groo Nickolaisen. She was raised in Eden, Utah and graduated from Weber High School. Mom was involved in educational television, where she hosted "Story Time With Pat". She was a member of the Ogden Civic Theater. She had a flair for the dramatic, evidenced by her wonderful ability to spin a tale. Mom also loved classic works, and could always be found curled up on her couch reading a book and petting her cat, Graybarre. She worked at Hill Air Force Base, retiring early in June of 1987 so she and her husband, Wayne, could travel, and so she could nurse him during his long illness. Mom never thought of herself as creative, but those who have received one of her handmade gifts would certainly disagree. She was a seamstress and loved t! o knit and crochet. She made beautiful quilts. Mom was also a musician. She played the violin and piano. Mom married Lloyd L. Hunter on April 30, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had three children, Richard L. Hunter, Teresa (Rese) Hunter Priest, and Douglas M. Hunter. Mom and Dad went their separate ways after 18 years of marriage. Mom then married Wayne H. Green. Mom was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she accepted and filled many callings in her various Wards and Stakes, her latest being in genealogy. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, stepson Greg, son-in-law David, and one step-grandson. Mom took her cat, Graybarre, with her when she died. She is survived by her first husband Lloyd, children, Rick, Rese, and Doug (Esther), her sister Nicky Coombs, 13 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, her stepson Kent L. (Denise) Green and stepdaughter Connie (Gary) Compton. She is also survived by many! great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. We will miss our Mom and her cheery smile and quick wit. She was always there for anyone who needed a shoulder to cry on, or just an ear to listen. She was always a teacher. She saw the best in everyone and gracefully negotiated troubled waters. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Bishop William Medell will officiate. Robert (Bob) was born July 15, 1932, in Afton, Wyoming, the son of Kenneth E. VanDarlin and Deloris Portella VanDarlin Doman. He was then followed in life by a brother, Gordon and Bettie VanDarlin, and a sister, Merilyn Holden (deceased). He married Faye Wixom on September 2, 1961, and they had two wonderful children together, Boyd VanDarlin of Montpelier and Susan VanDarlin of Blackfoot. Robert was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force for four years. His assignments led him around to many different places in the United States and abroad. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family, and loved to be in the outdoors. He worked for 26 years in the P&M mine driving trucks and running the grader in Kemmerer, Wyoming before retiring. Robert is survived by his wife, Faye VanDarlin; and four children, Boyd (Danielle), Susan, Cathy and Cheri. He is also survived by his brother, Gordon (Bettie) VanDarlin; and four grandchildren, Leslie Jo Hemmert, Lyndsey Dawn VanDarlin, Deveryn Boyd VanDarlin and Nicholas VanDarlin. Friends may visit with family at Matthews Mortuary on Monday evening, May 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. Cremation will then take place the next day, and a graveside service will be announced at a later date as his ashes will be interred in Montpelier Cemetery.

GEORGE - Lenora Sorensen Phillips, 84, died April 29, 2005 in St. George, UT. She was born July 27, 1920 in Ovid, ID to Charles Christian and Marie Olsen Sorensen. She married Robert "Bob" Owen Phillips on August 31, 1940 in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death June 5, 1948. Lenora and her two sisters, Lucille and Doris, were raised in Ovid, ID. After the death of their mother, her and her two sisters moved to Los Angeles, CA to live with Aunt Nina and Uncle Charlie Green. She met Bob at the Inglewood, CA ward choir practice where they both sang. After their marriage, when Bob's health started to fail, they moved to St. George for better climate and purchased the Dodge Springs Ranch. After the death of Bob, Lenora found it necessary to find employment to be able to support her four little boys. For many years she was a valuable and loyal employee of St. George Bank, which later became Zions Bank. She also worked for Adams and Company which took her to Salt Lake City and Spokane, WA. After her return to St. George she worked for Brooks Pace during the construction of Ancestor Square and Dammeron Valley. Lenora loved to have her family around her. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to make her famous homemade fudge, pinoche and caramels. She was an excellent cook and many of her own personal recipes are cherished among the family. Her beautiful handmade quilts and cross-stitch and crochet pieces are treasured by her children and grandchildren. Lenora was an active member of the LDS church. Being musical, Lenora's callings were mostly with the ward choir and chorister. She loved music and after she was confined to her home and not able to attend church any more she looked forward to listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Sunday mornings. She is survived by her four sons, Clifford (Geri) of St. George, Douglas (Sue) of Denver, CO, Vern ( Fran) of Las Vegas, NV and Craig of Toquerville, UT; 12 grandchildren, Tyalee, Kari, Klay, Rob, Jennifer, Megan, Tyler, Julie, Breck, Trisha, Mike and Kristi; 28 great grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Caouette of Moab, UT. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2005, 11 a.m., Snow Canyon 9th Ward Chapel, 1285 North Bluff, St. George, UT. Visitations will be held Thursday, 6-8 p.m., Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. Hazel married Forrest Henry Closner on Nov. 14, 1941 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Hazel and Forrest served together in the Boise, Idaho LDS Temple for many years. She held many leadership and teaching positions within her church and loved being of service to others. Her husband Forrest, parents, and a granddaughter preceded her in death. Hazel is survived by four children, Bret (Linda) Closner, Christy Ann (David) Ward, Jacque Jo (Reed) Robertson, and Lillian (Joe) Briner; sister Maythel Sparks; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was active in plays, several BYU movies, and voice recordings for radio, TV, and books. Martha won the Best Actress award for two years at BYU. She married Richard Henry Henstrom on June 17th, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she blessed children, young women, women and others with her leadership assignments. Martha and her husband recently served a full time mission at the Provo MTC. She served diligently in many other callings. Martha was a former President of BYU Women on two occasions and PTA president a number of times in local schools. She was a renaissance woman gifted in acting, singing, sewing, quilting, crafts, teaching and many other areas. Martha's music gifts were a blessing to both children and adults. Her quick wit always brought a smile. She served others constantly in a home that was open to all. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Richard H.
