Surnames: Hale, Gleason, Beckton Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.bearlake/1991/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 01/30/07 POCATELLO - Tandy Ray Hale, age 87, of Pocatello, died Sunday, January 28, 2007, with his loving family at his bedside. He was born March 1, 1919, in Chalk Butte, South Dakota, the first child of Charles Henry and Nellie Fay Gleason Hale. He was raised on a sheep ranch and was schooled in Stoneville, South Dakota. He was in military service with the Army from December 1943 to May 1946, and from October 1944 to May 1946 he served his country during World War II in Germany as a scout/messenger, for which he received the Bronze Star, and as an entertainment specialist. While in England, waiting to be shipped to the European Theater, he met the only girl he ever loved. After the war ended he married Elizabeth Ann Beckton in Poole, Dorset, England, on March 21, 1946. He shipped back home and waited for his new bride in New York City, and then they traveled by car to the western U.S. During his lifetime he worked as a rancher, an explosives expert in the oil fields of Wyoming, a miner at Anaconda Copper in Butte, Montana, and a welder for Central Farmers Fertilizer Company in Georgetown, Idaho. In 1964 he moved his family to Pocatello, where he worked for J.R. Simplot Company as a specialized welder and troubleshooter till 1977. He belonged to the International Association of Machinists and the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union. His love, and great gift, was music. He was a very talented musician and, although he never learned to read music, he could hear a tune once and play it flawlessly before the day was over. He played saxophone, clarinet, trumpet and fiddle. His signature tune on the sax was "In the Mood" and "Panhandle Rag" was his fiddle favorite. Most weekends he could be found on a bandstand where many, many people have enjoyed dancing to his music. He was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers and a men's state champion. He fostered the love of music in all his children, and we always looked forward to jamming at Dad and Mom's house. Curly Clark and the Fiddling Hales played as the opening act for Ronnie Stoneman and Tommy Cash when they toured here in the early '70s. After retirement, he and his wife played as a duo and called themselves Semi-Live. They played for the seniors at Lewis and Clark school a couple Saturday evenings a month until their move to Salmon in 1995. He loved the beauty and solitude at their home there, and lived there till 2004, when they returned to Pocatello. He loved animals and they loved him. He enjoyed baseball, camping, horseshoes and a nice cold beer. He was a man that always put everyone else before himself. He is survived by his five children, Valerie (Luis) Rios, Pat (Bob) Pasley, Jan (Steve) Adams, Chuck (Kim) Hale, Ali Sweet (Dale Wright); 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Dale (Glenda) Hale, Charles (MaryLou) Hale, Estelene Watts and Peggy Buntin. Brinley seems to be a new name that some families are naming their children in this area. Probably had no idea it was someone's family surname. Interesting though. I am not a member of this famiy, but I do know many of them. Perhaps you could contact the mortuary to see if they have an address for them and you could write and ask them yourself. Happy New Year!!

This is really interesting because DNA for the Schenk family and the Brinley name is really close to each other. While we have nothing to show the two names are the same family they are both from the same part of the old world. Do you know why the child was named Brinley? Thanks Clyde Brinley

    1. [IDBEARLA] Norma Audrey Rasmussen Jensen (1919-2006) Obituary
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jensen, Rasmussen, Wilde Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.bearlake/1974/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Deseret Morning News, 12/17/06 BOUNTIFUL - Norma Jensen, 87, passed away peacefully of natural causes December 16, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was born to Ivan O. and Martha Elmina Wilde Rasmussen, the middle child of seven children, September 2, 1919, in Mink Creek, ID. She attended Idaho schools and graduated from Preston High School. She married Paul Alton Jensen May 10, 1939, in the Logan Temple. He preceded her in death August 22, 1981. After Paul and Norma were married, they lived in Weston, Montpelier, and Grace Idaho, before coming to Bountiful where Paul worked as a butcher for Tingey's Cold Storage. While Paul served in the Navy during World War II Norma took their daughter and went home to live with her parents in Idaho. Upon his return, they came back to Bountiful where Paul continued to work at Tingeys. They lived on the same block as the store and so the whole family was easily involved in the store to the point that they were mistaken for Tingeys often. After her children were raise! d, Norma went to work for the Mode-O-Day Clothing store on Main Street. She then worked for House of Fabrics for the next 25 years retiring from there. She was probably best known in the community for driving the only Hugger Orange 1969 Camaro around. She was stopped every time she went out by someone who wanted to either look at the Camaro or buy it. And NO, it is not for sale! The older great-grandchildren called her "Grandma Great", the younger ones just called her "Great", and great she was. Her family was her first priority and she loved spending time with all the "grands" and the "greats". She made each of them more than one quilt to wrap up in or sleep under and they usually refused to throw out the old well loved quilt when a new one was made for them. If you knew Norma, you probably had one of her hand towels to hang in the kitchen. She made hundreds of them to give to nearly everyone she encountered, including the mailman! She loved to sew and made all of her own ! clothes, refusing to go to a store and buy clothes she didn't need. No rma's home was a gathering place for relatives who needed a place to live, stay or eat. Her door was always open. She served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She raised two devoted children who survive her, a daughter, Pauline Hodgson (Robert); and a son, Dennis Paul Jensen (Diane). She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Tolman and Cleo Crockett; and one brother, Earl Rasmussen. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 2nd Ward Chapel, 650 South 200 East, Bountiful. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main and Thursday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com Published in the Deseret News on 12/17/2006.
