He was impressed with their knowledge and the fun they had as they worked and, in 1936, he was hired by Mountain Bell. He worked in the plant department and later, in marketing, retiring in February 1978 with over 42 years of service. He also grew to love the desert as he and Carolyn wintered in southern Nevada, California and Arizona for a number of years. He always had a great deal of pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He had a special soft spot for the babies and they seemed to know, being content in his arms. He loved music. Inspirational was his favorite with good country/western a close second. He especially loved the group Bar J Chuckwagon from Jackson and Statler Brothers. He was a member of Presbyterian Chu! rch of Jackson Hole, BPOE #1087 Idaho Falls, Idaho; Caribou Lodge #84, A.F. and A.M, Soda Springs; was a member of SPEBSQSA (barbershop quartet singing) in Pocatello, Telephone Pioneers of America, Family Campers RV club, served for a number of years as a member of the Board of Directors for POTELCO Federal Credit Union in Pocatello and served on the Board of Directors of several homeowner associations. He had his real estate license for a number of years and enjoyed helping people find their special place. He also was a graduate of Foley-Belsaw Institute where he learned locksmithing. He enjoyed this work until macular degeneration made it impossible. He loved "tinkering" and had every tool.
