Has everyone heard that Ancestry is closing down the Rootsweb mailing lists in March? Is the admin of this list going to try and migrate the group somewhere else? We have started a new Idaho Genealogy message board/mailing list at "Groups.io" ( https://groups.io/g/IdahoGenealogy ) We want to place links to any county groups or specialized Idaho lists or groups on the home page. Of Course, anyone interested in Idaho genealogy is encouraged to join this new group I hope to hear from you RandyC

Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Pugmire, Christensen, Hobbs Classification: obituary Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: Jack Christensen Pugmire July 28, 1926 â November 14, 2015 WASHINGTON TERRACE, UTAH â Jack Christensen Pugmire, 89, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 28, 1926, in St. Charles, Idaho, to James Jonathan Pugmire and Ada Lillian Christensen Pugmire. As one of Americaâs greatest generation, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hoggatt Bay. After returning home at the end of the war, he found employment at the Union Pacific Railroad where he retired as a Carman after 42 years of service. He married Margaret Evelyn Hobbs on March 13, 1951, in Ely, Nevada. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. They were happily married for 63 years. Jack passed away on what would have been Margaretâs 85 birthday. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who always took the time to listen, laugh, and tease. He was our gentle giant. He loved doing things outdoors in nature with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping, and rafting down rivers. Our family get-togethers made memories we will always cherish. He dedicated his life in service to the LDS Church. Holding both Stake and Ward positions including that of Bishop. He loved the Lord and was our constant example. He was a member of the Washington Terrace 6th Ward. Jack is survived by his four children, Kristine (Keith) Luke of Ivins, Utah; Shirley Yearsley of Ogden; Daniel (Lannis) of Roy; and John (Lisa) Pugmire of Nibley, Utah; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and his older sister, Dona Vallier of Ogden. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Evelyn Hobbs Pugmire; his parents, James Jonathan and Ada Lillian Pugmire, five sisters and four brothers, and daughter-in-law, Diane Pugmire. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 6th Ward, 4760 S 200 E, Washington Terrace, Utah. Friends may visit with family at Lindquistâs Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah on Friday November 20, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to funeral services. Interment will be at Lindquistâs Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah. We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to everyone who has shown loving care and service to our dear father. Dad we love you and will miss you more than you can know. Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Sorenson, Tippets, Warren, Millward Classification: obituary Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 11/04/15 Dwayne J. (D.J.) Sorenson, 85, returned to his Father in Heaven, late Saturday night, October 31, 2015. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Tresa, following an illness. He was born September 5, 1930, to Leon Sorenson and Lillis M. Tippets Sorenson, in Georgetown, Idaho. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1948. D.J. was married to June (Caldwell) Warren, of Paris Idaho, from September 5, 1954 to June 24, 1965. They had two sons, Brandon G. (Jacki) Sorenson, of Pocatello, and Leon Dwayne, who lived for only 15 hours. He later married Karen Lu Millward, of Pocatello, July 16, 1976, and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 1, 1996. She had three daughters from a previous marriage, Cindy (Scott) McKinnon, of Pocatello, Brenda (David Madsen) Fowler, of Inkom, and Tresa (Steve) Daniels, of Pocatello. In the fall of 1948, D.J. started working for the Union Pacific Railroad in the signal department. It was there that he learned electrical work and was foreman for a while. Around 1954-55 he started working at Monsanto Chemical Co. in Soda Springs, and also did some freelance electrical wiring for private parties. In the fall of 1957, he moved to Pocatello and started working for INEEL as an Electrician and foreman. He worked there until retiring in 1993. As a child, D.J. lived on a ranch and loved horses and roaming in the fields with his dog Jack. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, collecting guns, and because it was not in his nature to be idle, he was always tinkering with or fixing something. He and his wife, Karen, loved to get in the car and drive to see new things. His family and his church were the most important things to him. He always provided for and made sure his family knew that they were loved. He is survived by his son, Brandon; step-daughters, Cindy, Brenda, and Tresa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his infant son, Leon; parents, Leon and Lillis; brother, Darwin; wife Karen; and sister, Bonnie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11am at the LDS Alameda 5th Ward Church, 1440 Lakeview Dr. Pocatello, ID 83201 with a viewing from 10-10:45 am prior to the service. Following the service, burial will take place at the Georgetown Cemetery in Georgetown, Idaho. Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83201, 208-233-1500, is caring for Dwayneâs Family. [1]ancestry This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Nate Classification: obituary Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: Idaho Statesman, 10/28/15 Charles Fred Nate (Charlie) was born March 4, 1976 to Judith and Fred Nate in Montpelier, Idaho and passed away with his family by his side on October 24, 2015 in Boise, Idaho. He attended elementary, middle and high school in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley, playing lots of baseball and basketball along the way. He graduated from Bear Lake High in 1994. Upon graduation, Charlie attended Boise State University and graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He was president of American Data Providers, Inc. which furnished information relative to foreclosures and other real estate information to realtors and investors. He formally worked in the real estate title business. Charlie had an infectious smile and was always eager to give new acquaintances and old a "high five." His smiles and wide-eyed enthusiasm were contagious and he spent more time smiling than frowning. He openly shared his zest for life and encouraged all those he met to live life to its fullest. All those who were a part of Charlie's life enjoyed a motto he lived by. "You never get hurt in the air. When in trouble, do a double. Speed is your friend. If you're not turning right, you best be turning left. And finally, go big or go home." Charlie always went home with a smile on his face and with anticipation of the next adventure. Charlie loved the outdoors. He enjoyed snow skiing, fresh powder, first tracks, hiking, climbing mountains, backpacking and exploring all things nature. He found joy, solace and peace with a pack on his back trekking with friends and family or journeying solo. Of the many trails that Charlie forged or followed, he always found a secret spot to meditate and appreciate all that he was granted. Charlie loved the freedom of riding his motorcycle with the wind in his hair and the breeze in his face. Charlie was a beloved son, brother, uncle and cousin. He is survived by his immediate family. His grandmother, Ruby Etcheverry of Montpelier; mother, Judith Nate Hanson (Raymond) of Boise; and his father, Fred K. Nate (Dianne) of Montpelier; one sister, Jacque Kober (Jim) and one brother, John Nate both of Boise, ID. His close cousins, Nathan, Christopher, Megan and Joe as well as his niece, Zoe, and nephew, Lucas will miss him dearly along with his aunts and uncles. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, October 30th at St. John's Cathedral in Boise, ID at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Idaho Humane Society. Planting a tree in memory of Charlie would also be appreciated. From all of Charlie's lifelong friends in Bear Lake, "He was easily the greatest friend we ever had. We will love you forever." "High Five" Charlie! Until we meet again. Published in Idaho Statesman on Oct. 28, 2015 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. [1]ancestry This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Stuart, Bacon, Wuthrich Classification: obituary Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: Salt Lake Tribune, 10/07/15 Glen L. Stuart passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2015. Glen was born on April 25, 1943 in Montpelier, ID to George T. and Nina Bacon Stuart. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. Glen grew up in Montpelier Idaho spending time with family, cousins, and friends. Glen was known for his compassion and generosity. As a young boy, Glen and his father spent many years helping people in the community; whether it was mending fences, cutting wood, or filling freezers full of meat, Glen enjoyed helping anyone in need. At the age of 18, Glen enlisted with the Air Force, where he spent four years serving his country as an on board air mechanic. After being honorably discharged, Glen returned to Montpelier, where he worked for the Montpelier sheriff's department and Bear Lake County search and rescue. He met his sweetheart, Janet Wuthrich, and later married her on August 1, 1970. Together they had a son, Michael Glen Stuart. Glen had a special way of connecting with people. The instant you met him, you fell in love. There wasn't a place he could go, that he wouldn't run into someone he knew. He had many wonderful friends, especially those in Bear Lake. Some of his most cherished days were spent with his family at his home in Bear Lake, having coffee with friends, riding horses in the country, and joking around. There was never a dull moment when Glen was around. His quit wit and charming personality could light up any room. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed talking about them to anyone who would stop and listen. Glen was especially proud of his son, Mike, whom he considered his best friend. They spent most of their time doing anything outdoors from working in the yard, to hunting and fishing. Glen was a man who knew the true meaning of hard work and dedication. One of his greatest dreams was to build a place where his family could spend time together. He spent many years working on his beautiful home and made a special place that will be cherished for years to come. Glen is survived by his son Mike (Brooke); Three grandchildren, Ambrey, Saige, and Grayson; Sister, Ann Rex. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., with a viewing prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. Service and viewing will be held at the LDS Church in Garden City, Utah 65 South Bear Lake Blvd. Interment to follow at the Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier, ID. Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Whitehead, Sleight, Payne Classification: queries Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: Preston Citizen, 09/15/15 Sherron Kay Sleight Whitehead, 71, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at her home in Franklin, Idaho. She was born on Feb. 8, 1944, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Theron A. and Grace Payne Sleight. She married Jerry C. Whitehead on Sept. 5, 1963, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 5, 2013. Sherron loved her husband and family. Her greatest memories were times spent working and playing together. She worked side-by-side with her husband, raising mink. She loved her flowers and growing a garden. They always raised a big enough garden to can for their family, and share the extra produce with neighbors and friends. She had many various health problems over the course of her life, but through them all, she never lost her faith or her cheerful disposition. She also loved her savior and serving in any capacity that he would like her to serve. She served in several organizations and callings, but the most daunting one to her was gospel doctrine teacher. But she took that challenge on, and did a marvelous job with it, and loved studying the gospel in depth. She had a great compassion for those around her and loved serving the widows in the ward. She taught her family by her example. Sherron is survived by her five children, Tammy (Morlyn) Seamons, of Lewiston, Utah; Curtis (Lesa) Whitehead, of American Fork, Utah; Shanna (Stephen) Bingham, of Kearns, Utah; Bryan of Franklin, Idaho; and Tiffany (Mike) Palmer of Tremonton, Utah; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Carol (Bill) Reeve; and a brother, LaMar Sleight. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dwight Sleight; and a sister-in-law, Sharma Sleight. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at noon in the Franklin Stake Center, 106 E. Main in Franklin. A viewing was held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. in Preston and will be held Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery. Shaughnessy, our mom, friend, and the best grandma ever passed away peacefully August 23. Ann was born June 5, 1937, to Leo and Lamona Rasmussen in Dingle, Idaho. The family farm, Bear Lake valley, along with the horses she rode and animals she raised, always remained close to her heart. Ann is survived by her children, Scott, Rickie, Lorie, and Todd, and was preceded in death by her husband Bob, siblings Nedra and Rex, and by Kathy and Steven. Annie's smile (and occasional mischief) will be missed by everyone, including her 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Never one to complain about the many challenges life handed her, she met them all with dignity, humor, and grace. The quiet strength she exhibited each day will be forgotten by none. The family expresses special appreciation to Cindy and Mark, Ann's other neighbors and friends, and the professional caregivers, for their unmatched support. There will be a gathering of celebration of life on Saturday, August 29 from 10:30-11:30 am at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the MS Society. [1]ancestry This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Frost, Weaver, Bird Classification: obituary Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: Idaho Press Tribune, 08/25/15 Ida LaVerda Weaver Frost was born in Dingle, Idaho, near Bear Lake on April 20, 1918 to William Jasper and Ada Bird Weaver. She died August 20, 2015 in Nampa, Idaho. She spent her youth with three sisters: Bernice, Bird and Donna and a brother Buddy who died when he was three. Ida (also known as Verda) had a good life with her sisters. They sang harmony together and Verda continued to sing all her life. She sang with the Senior Choir, traveling around to all the Senior Centers. As a teenager Verda was sent to Nampa to help her Aunt Thelma White take care of her baby and to clean her home for $1.50 a month. Her uncle Ed Bird, from Bowmont, near Melba, hired her away from his sister for $2.50 a month to take care of his ailing wife and to work on the farm. While living in Bowmont she met and married Harold Wiley Frost on March 24, 1936. They lived in the Boise Valley all their married life. Ida and Harold lived in Eagle, Nampa and Dixie, across the river from Notus, where they were successful at farming and operating a dairy. They raised three sons: DeWayne, Lynn and Dean and one daughter, Karen. Ida enjoyed her family very much and especially their camping trips to Alturas. She was a great cook, gardener and also had the talent of woodworking. She taught herself to paint and became a talented artist. Harold and Ida sold their farm in 1986 and moved to Nampa, not far from where they had their first home together. Her husband died Oct. 10, 1991. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She followed the teachings of Jesus by being charitable and loving to everyone. Her heart was broken when she lost her two sons and daughter and also her sisters and brother. She was the last of her siblings. She has been able to stay in her home and has lovingly been taken care of by her son Dean. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center and seeing her friends every day and also her friends from church. She leaves behind her son Dean; a daughter-in-law Delores Jamison; a son-in-law Howard Burwell; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved her as their own. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd. Nampa, 467-7300. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th St. North in Nampa. Condolences and memories may be shared at zeyerfuneralchapel.com The family would like to give a special thanks to Family Life Memory Care for the excellent attention given to Ida and her family during her last couple of years.
