    1. [Idaho] Thanks
    2. Glenn and Vicki Taute
    3. Thanks to all of you who have taken the time and effort to help me with locating the obituary of my husbands uncle Lester Reinke in Idaho. I really appreciate how you've all stepped in to help. Although I'm a genealogy nut from way back, this particular project was for my 91 yr. old father-in-law. Thanks again, Vicki tautegv@teleport.com

    2. Glenn and Vicki Taute
    3. Could someone help me to locate an obituary that should have come out sometime last week in Idaho. Sure wish I had more information but here's what I do have: It's for Lester Reinke who had lived in Pocatella, ID. We heard that his funeral may have been on Friday (December 15th, 2000). I'm not sure what papers it might be in, but thought maybe someone on this list would know. Or if there is an online version of it. Thanks in advance for your help. Vicki tautegv@teleport.com

    1. [Idaho] IDAHO History book
    2. Rose Terry
    3. Book "In Mountain Shadows; A History of Idaho" by Carlos A. Schwantes, 1996. D NEW 292 pages, INDEXED; An excellent example of the human side of the state of Idaho's history! Reaching back to 1805 when LEWIS and CLARK were among the first white men to enter present-day Idaho, this book describes the Indians of the Great Basin and Plateau and shows how fur traders, missionaries, and overland emigrants defined the land that became a territory in 1863 and, finally a state in 1890. The vigilantism, Indian wars, mining booms and busts, and animosity toward mormons and Chinese immigrants that marked the territory years gave way to more troubles in the early years of statehood; http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=514995763

I had someone else e-mail to say had I thought of Arco, and now that I look at it, I bet it does say that. I'm familiar with Arco, ID, and don't know why I didn't think of that! DUH!!!! Thanks also for the lead on the marriage...I'm going to go with that until proven otherwise, since I believe he was still in Michigan in 1890, and this marriage looks as if it might a second one at least for the bride. According to the 1850 Michigan census, Galusha was born in 1847. This would have made him 48 when the marriage took place, if this is he. Sounds right; I'll keep looking. Thanks again. Christine

Sawyer Area Idaho" G.A. Sawyer was half-brother to my husband's grandmother. His full name was Galusha A. Sawyer, and he was calle "Lute" by the family. The story is that he went to Idaho during the "gold rush" and there is no other record of him. I know he signed his half-sister's autograph book in 1890, in Michigan, where he was born and raised. He would have been in his late early to mid 40's when he went to Idaho. Was there a place called Area, Idaho, or is it just area, Idaho? Any help will be appreciated. Christine
