    1. Montana State Conference videotape update
    2. A. John Birkholz
    3. Good morning folks, Since I promised some of those who attended the recently held Montana State Genealogical Society Conference a progress report regarding my efforts to videotape some of the sessions, I will take this opportunity and these forums to address you all at the same time. I promised and intend to edit and will try to give to the Great Falls Genealogy Society before their next meeting a set of copies for their handling discretion. >From the first review it appears to me that although they are not anywhere near professional recording studio quality and in spite of an uncooperative noisy air conditioner during some of the episodes, that there will be six sessions that may be of interest to some of you The five sessions presented by Curt Witcher that I think will survive the cut, will include the following topics; 1) Passenger and Immigration Research 2) Historical Research Methodology 3) Reference Sources for Ethnic Research 4) Researching Revolutionary War Ancestors 5) Mining the Mother Lode (PERSI) and the sixth was a dinner presentation by Dick Thoroughman explaining his experiences regarding the Fort Shaw cemetery. It is therefore my suggestion that if you have an interest in any of these items and since I may have to leave these forums for a short while, that you make note of and watch for announcements in three to four weeks by either the Montana State Genealogical Society: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtmsgs or the Great Falls Genealogy Society http://www.mcn.net/~gfgs or e-mail me for now, John Birkholz brotherjohn@imt.net 963 McIver Road Great Falls, MT 59404-6304

    1. LILLIE F. JACKSON
    2. Hello List, Lillie F. or Lillian F. Jackson. Here's all I know of my Lillie: She married May 10, 1920, St. Maries, Benewah Co, ID, to John DePonty. According to a copy of their marriage license and marriage certificate, LILLIE F. JACKSON lived at the time of her marriage in Plummer, Benewah Co., ID, and John lived in Spokane, Spokane Co., WA. Witnesses: G. W. Allen and Mrs. G. W. Allen. Lillie Jackson is listed on my mother's birth certificate in 1922, as age 19, born Kendrick, Idaho. At that time, she lived in Spokane, WA. Extracts from a few city directories (Spokane): 1921 DePonty, John & Lillie clerk W. 1121 3rd 1924 DePonty, John P. & Lillie laborer S. 152 Pine My mother has an older sister, who at birth may have been named Ruth DePonty. About 1925, Ruth and my mother, Betty June, daughters of John P. DePonty and Lillie F. Jackson, were given out for adoption. However, since I was able to get an original copy of my mother's birth certificate, I believe her adoption either fell through the court's cracks, or never legally occurred. In any case, she was living with Mr. & Mrs. Fred C. Halverson/Halversen in Spokane, and they changed her name to Dorothy June. In my baby book, under Gifts to Baby, one of the names jumped out at me and I am wondering if this is Lillie Jackson, remarried: Lillian Parker. Since I was born in 1943, it makes sense Lillie would have remarried by then. Also, it seems my mother's parents must have known where and how to get in touch with their daughters, because my mother says she and her sister met their natural father in 1942 after he called them at the Halverson's home. If you recognize any of this information, please contact me. Thank you, Karen Foster Montgomery

    2. .....
    3. I would like to clarify once again this request as it is obvious I neglected to say that the census that I was referrring to was the 1910 Idaho census. On the 1910 Idaho Census listed in Nez Perce County , Location Mason, is listed Joseph Turner 63, born MO Samantha 62, born MO Annie 17, Oregon Earl 10, Oregon Herbert R 15, Oregon James 40, MO My request simply was that I am interested in any information anyone might have on this group. My apologies if I have confused someone... It is possible that James and Joseph are brothers. I believe that Annie and Earl relate to Joseph and Samantha. I believe that Samantha was married before and that these two were married after 1886. So this is just a fishing expedition...Thanks... irma widget@saw.net

    1. Request for POORHOUSE Info
    2. Linda Crannell
    3. Recently I published a website http://poorhousestory.com intended to be a clearinghouse for information about all 19th century American poorhouses. Poorhouse records have proven to be a valuable and previously largely untapped source of information about many people who may have been otherwise undocumented in the records we more commonly search to climb over our BRICK WALLS! If, on the above website, you go to the page at http://www.poorhousestory.com/other%20poorhouses.htm you will see that -- so far I have been unable to find any on-line references to poorhouses in Idaho. If any readers know of such records or histories, I would really appreciate help directing researchers to them through the website. Thanks, Linda (aka = The Poorhouse Lady)

    2. the rose family
    3. Does anyone have a copy of the "Early Members of the Church (or reorganized Church)of LDS" Records who could do a lookup for me? I am told the ONLY "proof" available as to the birth of my 2nd ggf Eber Miller, is to be found in those Early Church Records. (Baptismal Record?) His parents were Bethuel Miller and Amantha Martha Jordan. Eber (and possibly Bethuel as well) were Deacons later on. I don't know if his birth is mentioned in the records of him when he became a Deacon, or as an infant. He was born mid to late 1840's, while his Pioneer family was travelling West by Wagon Train to Utah. (Birth thought to have been in IL, but no trace has been found there). Thank you exceedingly much, Sarah srose@jeffnet.org
