William Henry SKINNER - born Jan.9, 1837 in England his wife, Julia HIGGINS, born about 1839 in Pennsylvania and the following children all born in Illinois: Ruth SKINNER - about 1862 Walter - about 1864 Franklin - about 1866 George - about 1868 Fannie - about 1870 There may have been later children born in Illinois or Idaho. I have much information on William Henry's ancestry to share with any other descendants. William Henry is believed to have come from Somersetshire, England with his father Robert & Step-mother Ann RICH in 1854. I cannot find ship records to corroborate the census and family lore. But I do know that Robert died in Eastern Champaign Co., IL in 1883 and that one brother moved to Douglas Co, IL. I'm trying to track down other siblings of William Henry SKINNER.

Posted on: Query Forum for
Unknown Place in Idaho ONLY
If you know the place, go to the county site. Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Id/Unknown/332 Surname: ------------------------- The surname was orginally BUCHHOLZ (with two h's). The sons of the original couple all dropped the extra 'h' at some point, not long after emigration. I have an idea that William F. BUCHOLZ may have ended up in Idaho. There is one listed as a resident in that state for 1910, but I don't know if he is 'my' William F. He was born about 1869 in New York city, shortly after his parents (Gottlieb & Caroline) emigrated to there from Berlin, Prussia with his 4 Prussian-born siblings. The family moved a few years later, to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where they had 3 more sons and raised the total of 7 sons and 1 daughter. Names: Herman, Labrecht (Labbey), Bertha Mathilda Charlotte, Albert A., William F. (of course), Henry, Charles L. (Charlie) and Frank H. All the sons were involved in the building trades; several carpenters, a house painter and a house-building contractor, all in the Ann Arbor area. William F. disappeared, along with his wife Sarah A. MOORE, [who was orginally from Indiana] and daughter of P. MOORE and Sarah MAYNES, also from Indiana. Their wedding took place in Ann Arbor in 1892 when both were 23 years old, and I can't find further records of them. It is unknown if there were children of this marriage and uncertain where they went from Ann Arbor. I'm hopeful a descendant of this couple in Idaho will read this and respond.
