Well, I've been list administrator for nearly 2 months and haven't taken the time to post my own info to the list. (Bad girl!) I can only plead that I do work full-time (which I'm sure most of you do) and have kids (which is a safe bet for many of you, also). I can only say that I an organizationally challenged. OK, that having been said, I will try to rectify this situation. Be warned, there's a lot of information here! :-) My ancestors were kind enough to move to Webster County in 1880, just prior to the Federal Census. In fact, they had a one-month old child at the time of the census. William Burrell Lydia Burrell David, son William, son Walter, son Bertha, daughter Blanche, daughter Now, the interesting part is that David, age 15 at the time of this census, was unknown to our family in modern times. This was the first time we knew he existed. Lydia was married 3 times, the first was apparently to a David Caylor. The information I have says that William and Lydia were married in 1868, which would indicate they could not have a 15-year-old son. I am inclined to think that David was Lydia's son by her first husband. In the 1885 Iowa State Census, the household is listed as: Burrell, Liddia, 37 Taylor, David, 21 (misspelled Caylor?) Burrell, William 15 Burrell, Walter, 12 Burrell, Bertha, 9 Burrell, Blanche, 4 Burrell, Lulu, 1 Baxter, John, 35 Hagnan, Fred, 55 Hagnan, Minne, 58 Backard, Dora, 83 Looks like Lydia was running a boardinghouse. No mention of William Burrell, Sr. John Baxter is important because Lydia married him in 1895. My mom was told by her grandmother, Augusta Burrell (married to Walter) that Lydia had been divorced once or twice. This was quite scandalous in those times. So, you can see there are a lot of questions I need to answer. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com
