    1. [IAWEBSTE] Webster Co. Honor Roll
    2. Dorothy Johnson
    3. I have the Webster Co. Honor Roll for the years of 1917, 1918 & 1919 which has a write up about those that served during World War I. If you think you had someone who served at that time, you can contact me and I will see if he is listed there. I have sent this list to the one who is in charge of the Webster Co. IA US GenWeb project but evidently she hasn't had the time to put them on there as yet. I am researching LINDQUIST & FREEBERG. Dorothy Johnson Spirit Lake, IA

    1. [IAWEBSTE] Roll Call of Surnames
    2. Carol Foltz
    3. I hope everyone has been enjoying a good holiday season. As I mentioned when I first took this list on, I live in Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa. To me, this means I have access to resources on the local level. This does not mean I will be able to go look up everybody's information for them, but I can probably put you in touch with someone who can. :-) I am hoping to start posting local information on a regular basis. I don't know what form this will take, and it will depend on my schedule. I currently am working for Manpower, on an assignment which has an urgent deadline. After that, I will try to look for local information that I can pass along. Historical tidbits, for example. For new members of the list, I would like to let you know that if you click on "reply" to an email, it will probably send to the sender, not to the list. You will need to change the "to" to iawebste-L@rootsweb.com. You can add this to your address book in your email program and it will be easier to send your message to the list. And, lastly, I would like to invite all members of this list to post their Webster County surnames. I am fairly new to the list, so I don't know what names you are looking for, and there are other new members as well. Thanks and have a Happy New Year! 1. [IAWEBSTE] TARRANT-FEDEREN-SHANNON
    2. Hello to the Great State of Iowa, I am searching for any information anyone can provide me with regard to the surname TARRANT and FEDEREN. Both families lived in various parts of the state, but spent quite a bit of time in the Minneapolis area. I am searching for PHILIP FEDEREN (1883) and his wife EDITH FEDEREN (1884) and their two children FABIOLA TARRANT (1897) and CECILE TARRANT (1893). They were last known to be in the Twin Cities area in 1944, but their descendants could be anywhere by now. They were relatives of GEORGE A. SHANNON AND ISABELLA (McDonald) SHANNON of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and their son ROBERT D. SHANNON, who was last known around 1942-44 to be living in Spencer, Iowa. Robert's wife was named JESSE and his children were ANNABELLE and GEORGE, also of Chippewa Falls, WI. Any information regarding these families or their descendants would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Kevin O'Brien Laguna Hills, CA USA Researching: SHANNON PERKINS WARNER LOWE IVALL GAULEY VAN SCHAICK DORCHESTER TRUAX SMITH

    1. Listowner introduction, part 2 :-)

    3. Answering Gerre Engard Byrd's questions: I graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1979. I lived in Fort Dodge from 1975-1981 and then since April 1996 (still there). My maiden name was Snyder. My mom's family (Burrell) is the family that has been here since 1880. More info: My grandfather, Arthur Francis Burrell, was born in Fort Dodge in 1910. He was one of 10 children of Walter and Augusta Burrell. Some members of his family (including him) moved to Chicago, where he met my grandmother, Florence Evelyn Korn. My mom and her sisters were all born in Chicago, but the family moved back to Fort Dodge in the 40's. They moved to Gowrie in the early 50's, I think. Next was Aurelia, near Cherokee. That's where my mom graduated high school. They moved back to Chicago around that time, I think. I guess I need to get more details from my mom, I'm working from memory (faulty!). Anyway, I was thrilled to find the family here in the 1880 census, especially since there was a son David listed with them that we had no record of. 1. Listowner introduction
    2. Carol Foltz
    3. Hi all. I am the new listowner for IAWEBSTE. My name is Carol Foltz and I live in Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa. As you can see, I have a definite interest in this area. In addition, my great-grandparents moved to Webster County in 1880, just prior to the 1880 Federal Census. This was truly a piece of luck for me to find. There have been members of this family (my mom's side) here ever since. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. All in one place. 1. George Woodman COLEMAN descendants sought.
    2. Gary Hankins
    3. George Woodman COLEMAN was born 7 Apr 1850 at Dover Point NH, died 1950 at Webster City IA after spending the greater part of his life in that area. I am descended from his son Benjamin F COLEMAN from his first marriage to Dora SHROCK. On her death he remarried and moved to Webster County and raised a second family. I have almost no info on that family and would like more. The only clue I have is the name GRAFFUNDER as somehow related. He also had a sister who lived in the area in 1950. I have a picture of him and sister on his 100th birthday and a picture of him and some unnamed relatives on the same occasion. Any info will be appreciated. Gary Hankins GHankins@sciti.com

    3. I'm looking for fellow descendants of Ft. Dodge, Webster Co. Phelan's. My g-g-grandfather James Phelan (b.1809) and his spouse Anastasia Carroll (b.1817) came from Ireland in 1865. They had 9 children. One of those was James C. Phelan (b.1853) who married Mary Looby (b.1855c) and had 4 sons who survived to adulthood. Their names were Leo, Raymond, William, James. The son named James married Cornelia Ives of Ft. Dodge. J.C. & Mary (Looby) lived part of their lives in Ft. Dodge, part in Kalo, IA, part in Cedar Rapids. From all those sons surely there is a surviving genealogist in the family??? -Judy Phelan Judy Phelan

    3. Perchance has anyone seen the Webster Co. District Court Naturalization records for 1879, Ft Dodge? I keep finding my ancestors listed in indices to the Naturalization papers with page numbers but no one seems to know where the actual records (or microfilms of same) are. The National Archives in Kansas City said they should be at the Webster Co. Courthouse in Ft Dodge. The courthouse says they don't have them. The Webster Co. Genealogical Society say they don't know where they are. Anybody have them in their basement? Judy Phelan

    1. Isaac GARMOE Jr
    2. Isaac GARMOE spent his adult life in and around Ft Dodge. He was associated with the Banking and real estate in the Ft Dodge area. I was told of a brick building in Ft Dodge with the name GARMOE enscribed over the entrance. I believe he and his wife, Margaret Sherrill GARMOE are buried in the Ft Dodge area. Isaac also had another wife by the name of Susannah I. Barger GARMOE that possibly is buried in the Ft Dodge area. If anyone has any info concerning Isaac Garmoe, please contact me either via the list or directly. Thank You Ron Garmoe PAPARG@aol.com
