    1. [IAWEBSTE] Hadlund
    2. J. Rogers
    3. Dear Mark: I was reading your posting and the name Hadlund caught my attention. Out of curiosity, I looked up Hadlund in the Webster County telephone book. There are no Hadlunds listed but there are seven [7] Haglunds listed throughout Webster. There are multiple Petersons. 1. [IAWEBSTE] Hadlund Family
    2. A couple of weeks ago, a kind person from the Sweden mailing list sent me a letter stating that the 1870 Iowa Census had a listing for a Hadlund family who was living in Webster County at that time. There were no first names given, just initials: JM, 46 born in Sweden. He was a farmer; AC, 43, also born in Sweden; M, 18, b. Illinois; E, 14, b. Iowa; J, 11, b. Iowa; I, 9, b. Iowa; A, 2, b. Iowa. I was wondering if any members of the family still live in the area. My great-great grandparents are John Elison Hadlund and Mary Katherine Peterson. Mark Hadlund Council Bluffs, Iowa

    2. Hi, I am Cookie Welch (Abrams) originally from Fort Dodge, Iowa, now living in Maryland. I have hit a brick wall. Am looking for any information on the Dennis McCarthy family who came to Fort Dodge from Ireland in 1860. They settled and raised 11 children, the youngest being my maternial Grandmother Florence McCarthy who married John William Bradford. My Mom was Charlotte Bradford who married my Dad Clifford Lee Abrams. His Grandparents came from Ohio in 18?? David Jones Abrams. Does anyone have any information on these families? Does anyone know anything about wagon trains into that area around 1868? I do know that Dennis' 1st child was born in Boone Iowa in 1868. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am very excited to find a Site from my hometown area. Thanks.

    3. Hi Vern I ordered, from my local FHC, microfiche #s 6038712 - 6038714 (five fiche total) that include an index to the newspapers of Webster County 1884 - 1906 (plus quite a bit more) They are well done, and include notices of BDM and family events. I found references to several of my FLYNN family, with dates to order the actual newspapers or perhaps in the future the death records. Good luck in your search. 1. [IAWEBSTE] Croker
    2. Mary Herzog
    3. I just subscribed to this list in anticipation of a research trip to Iowa this summer. William Croker arrived in Roland Twp, just outside of Gowrie in time to appear in the 1880 census. With him was his wife Betsy, son Fred age 10, adult son William with wife Ellen (Elsie), and their son, William P. age 1. William Croker and William Croker, Jr purchased farm land in Sec 36 Roland Twp in October 1880. They farmed there until Feb 1900 when they sold up and moved to South Dakota, where William Sr. died in March. I have found most of the legal documents concerning this family but I am interested in background material such as newspaper stories, schools the children would have attended, the Methodist church in Gowrie, migration stories from Illinois and to South Dakota, etc. I would like to hear from people who are researching the same time period. Thank you, Mary Herzog
