May lived in Humeston, Wayne Co., IA when I knew her she was my next door neighbor. Mary Viola (May) Snyder,was born Feb. 29, 1876 in Wapello County, IA, the daughter of Lee and Jane Dennis and died Dec. 30, 1965 in the Wayne Co. Hospital at Corydon, IA at the age of 89 years, 10 months and one day. She was married to James Everett Snyder in 1892 and they settled on a farm one mile north of Derby. Iowa. Three children came to bless this union, Mrs. Pearl Gredes of Turlock, CA, Hallard C. of Algona, IA and Herbert A. of Des moines IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Hallard and a brother Willie Dennis. She was survived by Pearl Bruns of Buffalo Center, IA; one son Herbert Snyder of Corydon; one sister Grace Horton of Leon, I and one brother, Herl Dennis of Leon, IA. Interment was in the Humeston Cemetery. Her husband James Everet Snyder, son of Lorance and Elizabeth Snyder was bornnear Chariton, IA April 13, 1867 and passed away at his home in Humeston, IA May 24, 1950 at the age of 83 years, one month and ten days.
