"1952 Centerville Sierra Nevada Morlan Miss Sierra Nevada Morlan, 84, of Plano died at 5 p.m. Thursday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jessie Elam, nine miles northwest of Plano. She had suffered a stroke February 22. She was born on a farm near Plano August 27, 1867, the daughter of the late Newton J. and Emma Morlan, and lived in the Plano vicinity all her life. She suffered an illness when a girl which impaired her eyesight. She was a member of the Baptist church at Confidence. for some time she had lived with her sisters, Mrs. Elam and Mrs. Myrtle Free of Russell. Besides the sisters she leaves two brothers, Steve L. Morlan of Centerville and Leeman Morlan of Indianola. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. The body is at the Woodman funeral home at Russell. The funeral will be held at Russell at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Confidence cemetery northwest of Plano." "Nevada Morlan Nevada Morlan, daugher of Newton J. and Emma Morlan, was born August 28, 1865 in Appanoose County, Iowa and died February 28, 1952, at the age of 86 years, six months. She accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the New Providence Baptist Church at Confidence March 1, 1896. Her objective was to serve her Savior in which she had an undying faith and devotion and had often expressed herself as being ready to meet him face to face. She leaves to mourn their loss two brothers, Leeman L. of Indianola, and Steve L of Centerville; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Elam of Plano and Mrs. Myrtle Free of Russell and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services wereheld at the Woodman Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon March 1, and burial was in the Confidence cemetery. The pall bearers were her nephews Everet Morlan, Paul Elam, Ross Morlan, Lawrence Stephens, Merritt Morlan and Merrill Robison. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Morlan, Mr and Mrs. Melvin Dewey of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baughman, Mr and Mrs Tom Hastie, Leeman Morlan, Mrs. Eva Cole of Indianola; Steve Morlan, Mr and Mrs John Robertson, and Lona, Mr and Mrs Bert Elgin, Mrs. Iva Robertson, Mr and Mrs Clyde Hiatt, Roy Phillips of Centerville, Mr and Mrs Roland Greene, Altha and Ortha Greene, Mr and Mrs Roy Coates, Promise City, Mr. and Mrs Lawrence Stephens, Omaha, Nebr, Merritt Morlan, Branson, Mo; Coral Stephens, Ottumwa, Mrs. Ethel Murphy, Des Moines, Cecil Stephens, Chariton; Mr and Mrs Clarence Robison, Mr and Mrs Merrill Robison, Corydon."
