Everett was born on a farm near Confidence and with the exception of having lived at Indianola eight years during his youth, he spent his entire life in Confidence. He married Miss Etha Van Benthusen, a daughter of the late S. A. Van Benthusen. Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Sara and Linda, at home and one brother, Merritt, of Branson, Mo. Funeral services were held Sunday from the New Providence Baptist Church at Confidence. Interment was in the Confidence cemetery." "1961 (Obituary) Everett L. Morlan Everett L. Morlan was born Sept 10, 1896 and departed this life July 28, 1961 at his home near Confidence. He was the son of Thomas and Jessie Morlan, and spent his life in the Confidence Community with the exception of eight years when he lived in Indianola, where he went to high school and college. He was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church where he manifested his faith and interest. He was affiliated with Walnut Masonic Chapter No. 588, Mystic, Iowa. He was in the First World War prior to his marriage to Etha Van Benthusen. He is survived by his wife, Etha, two daughters, Sara and Linda, a brother, Merritt, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and an infant daughter. Pallbearers were John Pavlick, Paul Smith, Guy Benz, Roy Bennett, Albion Torbett, and Lowell Frame. The singer was Bill Jeffries, and pianist was Mrs. John Woodman. Services were conducted by Rev. James Thomas of Centerville at the New Providence Baptist Church. Burial was at the confidence Cemetery."
