    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Battrell, Calar, McGarvy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Cl.2ADI/678.3 Message Board Post: Just an FYI for the Calar family and a request for information as the connection relates to the Battrell family. Book 1 of Wayne County's "Early Marriages," lists in entry No. 412 that Daniel Calar and Lucinda Battral applied for a marriage license on December 24, 1864. Lucinda Battrell McGarvy (from Jackson Co., WV, or more properly, Virginia, at the time she would have been born to George and Nancy McGarvy -- was listed in 1960 Iowa census records as being 33 years old. I believe she and Columbus Battrell married in Virginia and the couple emigrated with her parents to Iowa. The Battrell's children were: George (1854?), James (1856?), and John, (1861?) Columbus Battrell enlisted in Iowa's 23rd Infantry in July 1862 and was killed in a skirmish at Port Gibson, Mississippi on May 1, 1863. I don't know what happened to James Battrell, as the inventory Lucinda provided to the court in 1864 states that she has only two children -- George and John W. According to records ! found in Wayne Co., by 1876, John is under the guardianship of A. G. Meade and Lucinda is deceased. If anyone has further information about Lucinda and the Battrell's, please contact me either at the email listed or at 4739 - 76th Street, Urbandale, IA 50322.
