The timeframe I am dealing with is 1800-1920. 1) The graves of Emma C. FRENCH is Richmond, Wayne Co., IA. 1850 - 1881, then a French, Anthony H. July 1848 - June 1916. Record has "Comment (Mrs. A.H.)" 2) Marriage of Emma C. MITCHELL & Anthony H. FRENCH on 7 Sep 1876 Lucas IA 3) A Bible record found on message board: A.H. French b: 12-3-1810 4) In the same Bible record: Henry J., b: 1840 Johnston, Oh 5) A census record of Alvaro French (sibling/son) in Jewell Co., KS.mentions parents: Father: A. H. French b: NY, Mother: Cordelia Thurston b: OH 6) From LDS site: 1880 US Census, Chariton, Lucas Co., IA. Household: Anthony H. FRENCH self b: <1851> b: NY Age: 29 Marital Status: M <Married> Head of Household: Anthony H. FRENCH Father b: ENG Mother b: NY Kate FRENCH Wife 29 (1851) b: VA Keeping House father b: VA mother b: VA (one their children is Clyde FRENCH age 2 (1878) b: IA father b: NY mother b: VA, Mark French posted: "Kate Mitchell (1851) was My Great Great Grandmother ..... married my Great Grandfather Anthony H. French." ) 7) LDS: In 1880 Census, Jewell Co., KS.: Henry FRENCH Self age 39 (1841) b: OH father b: NY mother b: OH Emeline FRENCH Wife age 40 (1840) b: NY father b: NY mother b: NY I am trying to find out if the two A.H. French, married to Emma C. & Catherine are the same men. As in Emma/Emeline C./Catherine/Kate. Is the A.H. French married to Cordellia Thurston the father of an A.H., Jr.? Or is the younger A.H. a nephew of the older A.H.? It doesn't seem likely that Henry married to Emeline is really a Anthony married to Kate, using his middle name. The birthdates are different, the census records same time two different locales. Nevermind the birthplace NY/OH versus ENG/VA. There are 4 marriages of FRENCH in Lucas Co, IA., 3 are known to be brothers which ended up in KS. Given the time frame it is likely that the younger Anthony H. is either sibling not mentioned at the time of the Bible record or a cousin that stayed in IA.
