Milton A. Liggett was my grandfather's first cousin. Milton A. Liggett, Of Harvard, Dies Milton Abraham Liggett, highly respected citizen of Harvard, Ia., passed away at his home in Harvard, Ia., at the age of 56 years. Funeral services were held at the Harvard church at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, May 18, conducted by Rev. Peter Thomas. Burial in the family lot at Shriver cemetery. Obituary Milton Abraham Liggett, son of Jesse and Martha Liggett, was born near Corydon, Iowa on February 15, 1882. He grew to manhood in Wayne county and spent his entire life in this county and vicinity. For about 11 years he made his home with his uncle, Scott Liggett, who lived near Sewal. On February 13, 1916 he was married to Katie Calif, daughter of Wm. and Bessie Calif, and they made their home in the vicinity of Sewal where they continued to live until November, 1935 when they moved to Harvard, Ia., where they had lived until his death. He was the father of nine children, Ray, Velma, Guy, Opal, Ethel, Roxanna, Coy, Twila; and Dwight, all of whom are living and at home. He was one of family of seven children, all of whom are living, but none of them able to attend his funeral, although some of them, were able to see him during his illness. They are Edward Liggett, of Rose, Kans.; Bert of Burlington, Ia.; Mrs. Stella Lacey of Wallace, Kans.; Grover C. of Chicago, Ill.; Harvey of Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Corda Shaw of Milwaukee, Wisc. Abe, as he was always known, was a good citizen, a fine friend and neighbor and a loving father, who tried to raise his family to be honest and honorable. He leaves behind several uncles and aunts, many cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives along with a host of friends and neighbors. He passed away at his home in Harvard, Monday, May 16, 1938 at the age of 56 years, 3 months and 1 day.
