Surnames: FRENCH MITCHELL THURSTON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Cl.2ADI/938 Message Board Post: I need help to find the descendants of this couple. There is some confusion as to whether Anthony H. was a Sr., Jr., or even a brother named Henry who was married to a Emeline. He may even be a nephew of Anthony H. FRENCH & Cordellia THURSTON. And I have been unable to find a Mark FRENCH who posted a message that said he was related to Anthony and Kate. He also mentioned a Clyde D. FRENCH. I am trying to find Mark and any others related to these names. The FRENCH family has ties to NY>IA>KS. If you are connected please contact me. My IA connections are in Lucas, Wayne and Gowrie counties.

I am currently housebound so I am working on obit lists, funeral home records, etc. I have copies of the 1850, 1870, and 1880 census and several cemetery tombstone inventories, a 1902 city directory at home. I was checking the 1880 census looking for information about a Farrington family and found Rebeka Westwood. She was 23 and living with James and Jane Farrington in Streator. James was born in England and Jane in Scotland, but Rebeka was born in Pennsylvania. She is listed as a sister-in-law. Joanie

There is a I. H. Ammons(1830-1913) and wife Susan (1832-1898)buried in Riverview. I. H.'s stone mentions Henshaw's Battery, Isaac was in Henshaw's Battery from 1863-1864 so it is probably him. Found a couple other families: William B. Ammons (1819-1976), married? Miley and buried in Ancona Cemetery. Also Mary E. Ammons (1858-1878)buried in Ancona Cemetery. Mrs. Elizabeth Ammons(1817-1914) husband of Solomon? was buried in Moon's Point Cemetey south of Streator. Children:?? Luvernia (Charles Bickerton), Dora (Zeb Skaggs), Nicholas, Lucinda (1847-1867), Christena Ellen (Josiah Woolford). Lucinda and Christena are buried in Moon's Point. I don't have any obits for these people, the info comes from tombstone inventories.

For the Mar. 2, 1888 Weekly Free Press, he lists an obituary for Eli Ammons, aged 67. The burial was made in Barnhart Cemetery. I have one of the tombstone inventories for Bazore-Barnhart and only one Ammons is listed: Frankie P. died 1864, aged 3 yrs, 4 mos, 27 das. Do you happen to know if Eli was indeed buried in Bazore-Barnhart cemetery? What happened to Jane, his wife? Did she die in Iowa? I only have the obituary list to 1889 at home. The 1870 Census lists: Eli, aged 48 and Jane aged 38; with Mary, aged 13; Delia/Della, aged 7; Elizabeth, aged 4; and Joshua, aged 1. The 1880 census list Jane's age as 41, Eli's as 58. Only Della and Joshua were still at home. Mrs. Solomon (Elizabeth) Ammons is buried in Moon's Point with daughter? Lucinda. Joanie Johnson

    3. Dear Mr. Ross, I have no idea about the DILL family, other than the marriage of Daniel Dill to Martha Brower in La Grande, Union Co., OR. Martha was born MO, but she was raised in Lineville, Wayne Co., IA. From 1853 to 1882 basically. She was the daughter of Dr. Jeremaih Brower of Lineville, who was a Doctor, County Judge for 1 term, and Masonic Leader there. Dr. Brower was buried in Lineville 1875. About 1882 the remaining Brower family moved enmass to La Grande, Union Co., OR. Daniel Dill is a new son-in-law to me and my research. I am a BROWER researcher. I hope we can connect somehow. George Daniel Dill b. 3/2/1894 WA d. 2/23/1957 San Fransico Co., CA. mothers maiden name :BROWER I requested a volunteer to lookup the newspaper Obt, and it arrived today. San Francisco Examiner, Feb 25, 1957, page ii-19 Dill- In this city, Feb 23, 1957. George D. Dill, beloved husband of Harriet M. Dill, loving brother of Nancy Dill of Bellingham , WA, and the late Mary annd John Dill: a native of Washington. aged 62 yrs., A member of University Lodge No. 141, F. & A. M. of Seattle, WA. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service, 1 pm Tuesday, Feb 26, under the auspices of Occidental Lodge No. 22, F. & A. M., at Gray's, Divisadero st. at Post. From this obit we can tell: 1. He was an adult living in Seattle, prior to coming to San Francisco. 2. He has a sister Nancy Dill still living as of 2/25/1957 in Bellingham, WA 3. He had a sister Mary Dill, who is dead as of 2/25/1957 4. He had a brother John Dill who is dead as of 2/25/1957 5. He has a wife Harriet M. Dill, who is alive as of 2/25/1957 6. They first lived in La Grande, Union Co. OR. Emma and Amanda and Martha all married in La Grande. Emma married John Mills. Amanda married John Farrell. Martha married Daniel Dill. Nancy Brower died in 1901 at La Grande, OR. Also, by finding any Brower/Dill researchers in WA, perhaps we can find more Brower history from them, especially the final resting place of Nancy W. Brower, and her daughters. Best regards, Lillian Kathleen Martin
