F. Demorest, well known throughout this section, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Godfrey Sommers, where he was visiting, Sunday March 22nd. He was born in New Albany, Indiana, Feb. 20, 1840 and had been a resident of Iowa for a good many years. He is survived by 7 children: Mrs. Godfrey Sommers, Richmond; Mrs. Harriet Snider, Lincoln, Neb.; Mrs. Nettie McKibben, Tacoma, WA; Mrs. Maxie Nickerson, Washington, IA; Miss Mathilda G. Demorest, Washington, IA; Harrison D. Demorest, Richmond, IA; and Ruth F. Demorest of Glenwood, IA. The deceased served 3 years in the Civil War. The funeral was held at Richmond Methodist Church Monday, conducted by Rev. W. J. Pyle. Burial took place in the Richmond Cemetery.
