Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Burial was in Oregon Township Cememtery in Ainsworth, with military services conducted by the Ainsworth American Legion Post. Mr. SIMPSON was born September 30, 1902, in Ainsworth, a son of William Milton and Fanny NICHOLSON-SIMPSON. He was reared and educated in ainsworth and married Bonnie S. MORGAN on September 1, 1924, in Cedar Rapids. He worked most of his life as a carpenter in the Iowa City and Ainsworth areas, and had lived in Davenport for about the past year. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 36th Naval Construction Battalion in the South Pacific. He was also a long-time member of the Ainsworth American Legion post. Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie; nine sons, Laird Jr. and Joseph, both of Davenport, Raymond (Denny) of Blue Grass, Milton of Orlando, Florida, George of Phoenix, Arizona, John of Rockton, Illinois, Andy of Bellevue, Nebraska, Larry of Mt. Home, Indiana, and Ronnie of St. Louis, Missouri; and three daughters, Bonnie (Mrs. Richard) LOPSHIRE and Edith (Mrs. Lloyd) MOHR, both of Davenport, and Judy (Mrs. Brad) FULTON of Columbus Junction. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, four grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
