STONUM dies in Washington Vernon E. STONUM, 62, of 841 West Monroe Street in Washington died October 8, 1981 at Washington County Hospital. The funeral was Saturday, October 10, at 1:00 p.m. in the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. larry Brown in charge. Vernon Eugene STONUM was born March 21, 1919 in Senath, Missouri, a son of H.O. and Lizzie O. AKINS-STONUM. He was married on July 7, 1953 at Muscatine to Charlotte TIETGE. A member of Marion Avenue Baptist Church, he was a carpenter and a roofer. Surviving are hi smother, Lizzie STONUM of St. Louis, Missouri; his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Al (Gretta) NOTHCUTT of Jenning, Missouri, and Mrs Arnie (Jeanie) STALLEINE, St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren; five step-daughters, Karen DRUMM, and Rosalie ANDERSON of Lebanon, Oregon, Patricia POWERS of Ainsworth, Judy STAATS of Muscatine, and Carol WILLIAMSON of Flora, Illinois, 19 step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a twin brother, Dan of St. Louis, and another brother, Jim STONUM of West Memphis, Arkansas; Two sisters, Hermeania MATTOX, and Madelon LANE both of St. Louis. His first wife, Mary, preceded him in death along with his parents and several brothers and sisters.
