Reply to the message or author by clicking on the link below. *************************************************************************** MESSAGE: (#138856) ORRIS, Doris 1901-1982 <http://iagenweb.org/boards/washington/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=138856> AUTHOR: Mary E Boyer DATE: 12/28/2006 at 15:27:18 Surnames: ORRIS - PORTHER - PORTER - HULICK - WOODS Doris ORRIS, 80, dies in Washington Mrs. Doris ORRIS, 80, a resident at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington and a long-time resident of the Ainsworth community, died Tuesday, June 29, at the Washington County Hospital after a brief illness. The funeral was Thursday, July 1, in the Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Cottrell in charge. Burial was in the Ainsworth Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Washington Public Library. Doris PORTHER-HULICK was born November 21, 1901, at Ainsworth, a daughter of Charles G. and Jenny PORTER-HULICK. She was raised at Ainsworth and attended Monmouth College. She married Samuel Fredrick ORRIS November 10, 1925, at Ainsworth and had lived in Ainsworth untl coming to Washington three years ago. She was active in the United Methodist Church of Ainsworth, serving as an elder, choir director and church librarian. She had worked for 27 years as a secretary in the Ainsworth school system. Surviving are three children, Reid ORRIS, Samuel Keith ORRIS, and Mrs. Ted (Maridee) WOODS, all of Washington; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, on step-sister and three step-brothers.
