WOODS, 67 of Washington, died Thursday January 28, 1982 at the long term care unit of Washington County Hospital. He had not been well for a year and a half and was seriously ill the past two weeks. Mr. WOODS was a business man in the Washington area for several years. He moved to Washington in 1939 as manager of the A & P Grocery and at one time was part owner of the Chocolate Shop. He also was owner of the Bryn Mawr restaurant and later the Shamrock Restaurant at Ainsworth. He had retired from the restaurant business in 1977 after 30 years. After retiring, he worked part time at the Washington Country Club, Jack Hamilton's and Washington West. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 30, at the Jones Funeral Home with Rev. J. Roland Crandall officiating. Cremation followed the service with burial later in the Elm Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for either the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital or the educational unit of Washington United Methodist Church. Lester Raymond WOODS was born at Fairfield June 1, 1914, a son of Frank and Bertha BIDWELL WOODS. He was raised there and married Darlene STOVER WOODS on February 1, 1966 at Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a veteran of Navy duty during World War II, was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks Club, Masonic Lodge in Ainsworth and KAABA Temple at Davenport and the Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, five children, Mrs. Randy (Debbie) STAUFFER of Washington, Mrs. Tom (Sally) REILLY, Mrs. Ron (Becky) FORT and Mike SHEETZ of Cedar Rapisd and Patricia SHEETZ of Minneapolis, Minnesota; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edna SIMMERING of Washington and Mrs. Leo (Nelllie) EMBREE of Lone Tree. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
