He was born in Washington County Feb 8, 1896, a son of John and Jeannette Birney Custer. He was married here May 11, 1922, to Naomi Hesseltine. Surviving are his wife; two brothers, Edd and Wes both of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Glenn Hazen of Muscatine, and Mrs. Edith Daut of Long Beach, CA. Also surviving are a number of nephews and nieces. His parents, one sister and four brothers preceded him in death.
