I've been trying to research my maiden name, CRAY, without much success. I know that they lived in Cedar and Inn counties but have also found this name in Washington county. I don't believe there are any longer Cray's in this area. I have found 3-4 graves in the Wellman cemetery but have no idea who they might be. A very nice lady from this list, months ago said there was a John Cray who lived in Wellman years ago. Unfortunately, my son-in-law lost this information for me so I'm not sure where it was that he lived. I've never visisted the genealogy section of the Washington library. Donna, it has been 5 years or so since I have been in the Washington Library (I live in Texas), but I was so impressed at what they had available. It is not nearly as comprehensive as Iowa City, of coarse, but they have so much to offer. I wished I had left more time to spend there. If you go, be sure to look at their newspaper obituaries, some of which go way back. They were in scrapbooks when I was there.
