I am not related to Mrs. Gibson and have no further information. Inger Eleanor Gibson, 76, of Wayland, Ia., died Wednesday, Oct 24, 2001, at her home. Born Oct 10, 1925, in Morning Sun, she was the daughter of Rolland and Edith Matthews Barrick. On Nov 23, 1944, she married Ralph Gibson in Wapello. Mrs. Gibson was active in missionary work around the world. She was raised in Wapello and was a graduate of Wapello High School. In 1969 she and her husband moved to Wayland from Marcus. She was a member of Wayland Methodist Church, Gideon Auxiliary and active in Lay witness. She volunteered at the Crowded Closet in Iowa City and enjoyed shopping, travel, swimming, and her family. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kenneth Gibson of Iowa City and Kevin Gibson of Ames; three daughters, Karen Weerman of Washington, Katheryn Sawyer of Cedar Rapids and Karla Lessman of Lincoln, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lester Barrick of Wapello, Hoyt Barrick of Osage and Sidney Barrick of Sun City, Ariz; and one sister, Jeanette Humphrey of Wapello. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one infant sister. Visitation was Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland where the family met with friends in the evening. The funeral for Mrs. Gibson was at 10:30 am Saturday, October 27, at the Wayland Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Hartman officiating. Burial was in the Center Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Gideon's Wayland Methodist Church, or McCurdy Schools in Espanola, N.M.
