    2. Washington Evening Journal, July 2, 2001 Paul E. Snyder, 87, of Brighton, died Saturday June 30, 2001, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, J uly 5, at Pleasant Plain Friends Church in Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Naomi Lock officiating.Burial will be in Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery. Mr. Snyder was born near Nira to Clifford K. and Harriet (Stillings)Snyder. He married Leona Kessler, Dec. 9, 1946 in Washington. Mr. Snyder grew up in the Washington area and graduated from Washington High School in 1932. He attended Iowa State College in Ames. Mr. Snyder worked in road and pipeline construction and was a truck driver before serving with the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He farmed and orked in factories before retiring in 1979. Mr. Snyder moved from the farm into Brighton in 1996 and later moved to Huxley. He was a member of Pleasant Plain Church and had served tthe church as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer. Mr. Snyder was formerly a Commander of the American Legion Edgar C. Davisson Post No. 212 in Brighton and a Boy Scouts of America troop leader. Mr. Snyder is survived by one son Douglas Snyder and wife Martha of Logan; one daughter, Mary Miller and husband John of Ankeny, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, in 1996; one brother, Charles Snyder; and two sisters, Pauline Long and Dorothea Trotman.
