    2. Washington Evening Journal, Monday Jul 2, 1992. Lyle Albert Wilcox,96, of Washington died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Edward Philgreen officiating. Burial will be in Elm Gorve Cemetery in Washington. Visitation began at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7 until 8 this evening. Memorials have been established for either hte United Presbyterian Home or the United Methodist Church Sunday School Program. Mr. Wilcox was born Sept. 11, 1904 in Washington to Robert Cary and Carry May (Portlock) Wilcox. He married Rachel Helen Johnson Nov. 2, 1927 in Pleasant Plain and later married Leona (Mody) Ferrell, July 3, 1976 in Washington. Mr. Wilcox attended Washingotn country schools and was a member of the United Methodist Church for 83 years. He sang in the Methodist church choir for 65 years, was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years and was a member of the Singing Grandpas. Mr. Wilcox farmed and raised turkeys southeast of Washington until his retirement. Mr. Wilcox is survived by two daughters, Helen Reschley and husband Jim of Washington and Louise Richards and HUsband Dale of Washingotn; two step-daughers, Ilene Schniccker and husband Milton of Washington and Peggy Underwood and husband Warren of Boulder, Colo; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchidren and several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rachel; his second wife, Leona; three brothers; six sisters; and one great-grandson.
