    3. Charlotte, Washington is probably about 80-90 mile from the Quad Cities. The town has a square and is easy to find your way around in, however, Highway 92 is now closed for construction between Ainsworth and Washington if you are looking at a road map, keep that in mind. I live about 23 miles from Washington and about 60 miles from the Quad Cities so this is just a guestimate. I don't know the hours of the Washington Library since I live out of town. However, when I have been over there, it is open after 10:00 a.m. every day but I don't know which evenings it is open as I never go of an evening. The Washington County Genealogical Library/Public Library is at 120 E. Main, Washington, Iowa. The courthouse is on the other end of that street at 210 W. Main. I think you will find land records before 1850 as I had a great great grandfather that died there in 1851 and he owned land at that time. Possibly as early as 1836-38. The former coordinator of the Washington County IaGenWeb site lost their server and the pages are being rebuilt. With road construction and surgery in the spring I am trying to rebuild the site with what information I have available in my own home until I can spend more time in Washington myself.
