In regard to marriages in Washington County, the Washington County Genealogical Society has computer printouts of the marriages in their Library upstairs in the public library. If you send a query to the Genealogical Society, their corresponding secretary may look up information in that library and advise what they know, but please don't expect them to go to the courthouse to do research for marriage applications, etc. If you can possibly make a trip to the library itself, I advise you to do so as they have one of the best genealogical library collections that you will find in the State of Iowa on local families and the history of Washington County. The Washington County Genealogical Society also publishes marriage records in its newsletter. This newsletter is sent to all members. I believe the membership is $8 a year but I could be wrong, I need to renew myself. I usually just send a donation and tell them to keep the newsletter coming. Norma Jennings
