I have looked at these records. One died during the war. The other was too young to be John S. Boal. John S. Boal died in 1878. H, 53rd PA Inf; discharged 5/31/1865 6- Residence not listed; enlisted 8/11/1863 as a Captain; same day commissioned into Co. A, 9th PA Cavalry; killed 3/16/1865 at Averysboro, NC. Buried in the National Cemetery, Raleigh, NC: Section 20, Grave 53. Both items are from "History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-1865." I can print out a 'poop sheet' on both military units--the 53rd Inf, and the 9th Cav--and send them to you, if you like. send me your USPS address.
