I am not related to Mr. Harbison and have no further information re: him. Louis Lee Harbison, 73, died June 13, 2001, at Providence Alaska Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska following a heart attack. Visitation was Saturday, June 16, at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Anchorage, Alaska. A celebration of life was held at 2 pm Sunday June 17, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Anchorage with the Rev. R. Fuller officiating. Following the service a gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kosto, 2506 Collie Hill Way, Anchorage. His ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean at a later date. Mr. Harbison was born March 25, 1928, in Ainsworth, Iowa. He graduated from Columbus Junction High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa and Wichita Kansas University. He also served in the United States Navy. In 1967, he began working with Texaco, Inc. He lived in Hemet, California and Lakewood, California before moving to Alaska in 1974. He continued to work for Texaco, Inc., until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Harbison enjoyed gardening, woodwork, fishing, music, family and God. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran and First Congregational Church of Anchorage. His family says he was a "man of honesty and strength, devoted husband and loving father, generous, wonderful grandfather. He will be remembered for his stories of wisdom, laughter, and hope. He was loyal to God and family." Mr. Harbison is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elda L. Harbison of Anchorage; daughters, Lynne L. Purvis of Cave Creek, Arizona, Loren L. Harbison of Phoenix, Arizona, and Leah K. Kosto of Anchorage; one son, David R. Harbison of Las Cruces, New Mexico; daughter-in-law Gabriella Harbison; sons-in-law, Bill Purvis and Paul Kosto; granddaughters Tina Purvis, Hastie Kobertstein, Leticia Diaz, Adrianna Diaz, and April Marie Harbison; grandsons, Bryce Purvis, David Harbison and Mark Harbison; great-grandchildren, Shea Lynn, Aidan, Devon, and Zanc. He also leaves many friends and extended family members. Family requests memorial bequests and condolences be sent to Mrs. Elda Harbison, 2506 Collie Hill Way, Anchorage, AK, 99504. Cremation arranges are by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
