Rich, I am a subscriber to the Washington County, Iowa, list at RootsWeb and grew up in Wellman. I don't recognize the BITTING surname in connection to Wellman but will do a lookup for you. Do you know definitely that it appears in the centennial book? Are there any other surnames that it would be found in connection with?
