Patricia, I find Milton Hospins in JEFFERSON county Iowa in 1850 and again in 1870 1850 HUCHINS MILTON Jefferson County IA 062 Fairfield Township 1870 HOSKINS MILTON Jefferson County IA 170 Penn Township No Hoskins are found in 1840 Iowa Richard Gorton Hoskins born 1875 in Jefferson County Iowa married Minnie Elfleeta Stribling in 1897 and he died in 1933 The only Gorton I can find in Iowa in the 1860 census is 1860 GORTON CHARLES Winneshiek County IA 865 Canoe Township none before that I find a Milton Hoskins in 1840 1840 HOSKINS MILTON Linn County MO 250 No Township Listed This I found thru my membership to ancestry.com which I will gladly look up information for anyone on. Hoskins was still in Jefferson Co. Iowa in the 1950's. I think it was Chalmers Hoskins, but that is just from memory which is not infallible. The children went to Packwood to school and I remember one that graduated I think around 1954.
