Dave Higdon in charge. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr Mullikin was born May 4, 1910, in Missouri to Harry and Della Mae Burnett Mullikin. He married Josephine Katherine Brown on Feb 14, 1934, in Fairfield. Survivors are his widow; two sons, Glen Jr. and Donald of Brighton; three daughters; Mrs. Margaret Philips of Selma, Mrs. Rose Marie Jaynes of Carthage, MO., and Debra Sue at home; also 12 grandchildren and one great-granchild; four brothers; Earl and John of Brighton, Roy of Fairfield and Olen of Batavia; one sister, Mrs. Mable Royer of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Emily Mullikin, Opal Shirkey, and Leota Taylor.

Mrs. Brown lived most of her life in Washington County and was a member of the Christian Church and past president of Rebekah Lodge. He had been injured at 10AM Monday when the pickup he was driving left the road two miles north and one fourth mile west of What Cheer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10AM in St Mary's Catholic Church with Rev C.F. Kempker in charge. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery. The Parish rosary will be tonight at 8:00PM in the Powell Funeral Home at Keota. Officers who investigated the accident said Mr. Fosdick was driving a pickup truck pulling a fertilizer trailer. The trailer apparently started to weave back and forth, and the pickup left the road and overturned, hitting a utility pole. Mr Fosdick was thrown out of the truck. He was born Apr 7, 1932 at Keota, a son of Charles and Eva Palm Fosdick. He was married Jan 30, 1950 to Kay Myers at Kinross and was employed at the Kinross Lumber for four years. He then was associated with Howard Greiner in organizing the Ke-Wash Fertilizer Co. For a time he held an interest in Goode Fertilizer at Fairfield, but later sold this interest and started fertilizer plants at South English and Hedrick. In the fall of 1965 he sold to Sinclair Petroleum Chemical Co. and had been working recently as a districk manager for that firm. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church at Keota and the Elks Club at Fairfield. He was president of the Keota Investment Club, and president of St Mary's School Board. Surviving are his wife; five children, Brad, Hal, Kirby, Barry and Julie all at home; his mother, Mrs. Charles Fosdick of Keota: three sisters: Mrs. Marcella Monaghan, Keota, Sister Mary Anita, Des Moines, Kay Fulrath, Cedar Rapids: and four brothers: Gerald, Bettendorf, Richard of Indiana, Francis of Vienna, Va, Leonard of Cedar Rapids. His father and infant brother preceded him in death.

He was a WWII Navy veteran, member of St Pius X Catholic Church, the Knights of Coulumbus #909, and the Cedar Rapids Elks Lodge #251 BPOE. He was a longtime IBEW union member and a retiree of Rockwell-Collins after 35 years. Prior to the illness requiring hospitalization, she had been in failing health. Funeral services which are in charge of the F. A. Hoskins funeral home will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Brighton Christian Church conducted by Rev. R.W. Fillmore. Burial wil be at Hillcrest cemetery. Josephine Nelson was born Sep 27, 1861, at Nashville, Tenn., a daughter of S. E. and Arilla Nelson. When she was three years old, she came to Iowa with her parents who settled in the Clay community. She was married to E. Alonzo Brown at Oskaloosa Jan 5, 1879, and they were the parents of three children. Mr. Brown died May 19, 1908, and on June 22, 1915, she was married to Wesley Hendricks who died Mar 20, 1935. She was a member of the Journal's Three Quarter Century club. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Frank Parcell of Fairfield, and son Clarence Brown, northwest of Brighton where Mrs. Hendricks had made her home for sometime. A son, Elbert, died a few years ago. She had made her home with the Bakers for a number of years. Old age was the cause of death. She was born Jan 1, 1830, in Hampshire county, West Virginia, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Baker. She is survived by two children; Lewis Baker, of this county, and Mrs. Martha Johnson of Big Horn Basin, Wyoming. Her husband, Norris Dean has been dead for a number of years. Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren survive Mrs. Dean. She is also outlived by one brother in Arkansas, one in Kansas, and a sister in Washington state. H.M. Baker of this city and J. W. Baker, of West Chester, are also brothers. The arrangements for the funeral have not been completed yet. He was born in Dutch Creek, Iowa, lived in this community his entire life with the exception of a few years in Union county. He lived at home with his parents and ministered faithfully to their wants until they passed away in 1925. He was a loving faithful son. He lived and died in the home that he and his father built. He made a confession and joined the Black Hawk Methodist Church when a young man. He was united in marriage to Mrs Josephine Brown on June 22, 1915, who proved a loving affectionate helpmate and ministered with untiring interest to his wants till the last. He leaves to moun his departure, his widow and one nephew Perry Deal the only living relative. He was a dutiful son, loving husband and friend to all who knew him. This community has lost one of its best citizens in the passing of Wesley Hendricks

Leila was a homeaker and assisted her husband in his auto parts store. she was a member of the Brighton United Church, Martha's Circle, Brighton United Church Women, bible study groups and assisted with congregate meals at the church, TTT of Brighton and the Pythian Sisters. She is survived by her husband, Wesley, one son, Robert Mullikin of St Louis, MO, two daughters: Pam (Nick) Bloom of Cedar Rapids, IA and Ruth Ann Wieland of Ainsworth, six grandchildren: Dustin (Heather)Bloom, Kenzie Bloom, Drew Bloom, Jason Mullikin, Jennifer Mullikin, Lauren Mullikin, one sister, Josephine Greene of Wayland, Doyle Brown and Clarence Brown, Jr. both of Washington, Kenneth Brown of Mt Pleasant and Dale Brown of Jackson, MO. Also the Washington county, Iowa, Historical Society located on the second floor of the Library in Washington has the best local resources I have ever seen. I am sure if you contact someone there for a small fee they can find it for you. Iowa allowed the Mormon church to microfilm all their records, so I have found the same information on microfilm that I find when I visit the county court houses. Also the court house has an index on the computer of all vital records that they have.
