Sorry - a got my Washington Counties mixed up. The info was for Washington COunty PA not Iowa. Re Washington County Iowa, my maxwells migrated there mostly from Ohio/Indiana/Illinois around the middle of the 1800s and from there into Kansas/Olkahoma. Josette Maxwell Boone NC
John, I am searching for the final resting place of Cornelia Seeley OWEN (GRANT) (b. 5 Feb 1825, d. 20 Feb 1905). An old handwritten family record says that she died in "River Side (Iowa)". In 1863, my g g grandfather Alonzo Francis OWEN died of disease while serving in the Civil War. Then in 1864, Cornelia married Miner GRANT. In the Federal 1870 census, he is not mentioned as head of household. She still has GRANT as her last name and the 3 children have the last name of OWEN. Therefore, if a death record exists for Cornelia, I don't know if it would be under OWEN or GRANT. In addition, I'm not sure that the "River Side" mentioned in the family record is located in Washington county. There is a Riverside, Washington co and a Riverside, Woodbury co. So far, I've been checking both and have not turned up anything. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Carol Laurel, MD
I've got Maxwells in Washington County from about 1793, migrating there from what is now Adams County. They married into Laird, Brownlee and Craig families but we have several where we don't know to whom they were married. There were seven sons born between 1750 and 1768 in Adams County, and 48 grandchildren of Henry Maxwell m. Agnes Carson, most of whom were born in Washington County/Brooke WV/eastern Ohio . Roll call: KINKADE, McDOWELL Robert T. and Sarah KINKADE moved their family to Washington County from Logan County, Ohio, in 1846. It appears Robert T. may have moved to Page County, IA, by 1870 but their son, Elisha KINKADE, farmed in Washington County until 1880 when he moved his family to Pawnee County, NE. Elisha's wife was Annie S. McDOWELL, daughter of Samuel McDOWELL. Samuel also moved to Page County before 1869. Elisha and Annie's first child, Mary Lois, was born May 10, 1970. I am interested in the birth date for their second child, Samuel Emmert KINKADE plus any other children. Also interested in anything on Samuel McDOWELL, his wife, ancestors, etc. Don Nash in California
Hi I'm looking for information on the families of Frank Jordon (could possibly be Jardon) and Amanda Beliel who were married 28 March 1865 at the Wm Houk home, Washington, Washington County, Iowa. Frank was born in France. I know he had a brother Ferreol who was born 10 April 1830 (also born in France) and died 27 March 1919 in Washington. Amanda Beliel was born in Canada and may have been adopted by the Beliel family as that is what my Grandmother told both my cousin and I. Although I'm not sure which Beliel family for sure either. Frank and Amanda had the following children Frank Albert Mary Frances May Julia Mary Frances was my great grandmother she was born 8 Dec 1869 we believe in Washington IA and died 8 March 1944 in Knoxville, Marion County Iowa. Frank and Amanda later moved to Knoxville, Marion Cty Iowa. Any help would be appreciated.. Mary [email protected]

Hi Whoever filled out the information on my birth certificate certainly was able to copy the doctor's handwriting so it looks like the doctor did it. I was born at home with the doctor, my father and my grandmother in attendance. It would seem logical to me to fill out a form at the time and the doc do it rather than my father or grandmother Ruth in Vancouver, Wa
Hello All, Sorry for the trouble, but some kook sabotaged my e-mail subscriptions to the Rootsweb.com mailing lists. I can still receive postings to my [email protected] box, or here. I also have about a dozen screen names with two other Internet providers, so if those of you who I am helping will e-mail me privately, I'll give them to you. I hope this problem will resolve itself. Hello to the Great State of Iowa, I am searching for any information anyone can provide me with regard to the surname TARRANT and FEDEREN. Both families lived in various parts of the state, but spent quite a bit of time in the Minneapolis area. I am searching for PHILIP FEDEREN (1883) and his wife EDITH FEDEREN (1884) and their two children FABIOLA TARRANT (1897) and CECILE TARRANT (1893). They were last known to be in the Twin Cities area in 1944, but their descendants could be anywhere by now. They were relatives of GEORGE A. SHANNON AND ISABELLA (McDonald) SHANNON of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and their son ROBERT D. SHANNON, who was last known around 1942-44 to be living in Spencer, Iowa. Robert's wife was named JESSE and his children were ANNABELLE and GEORGE, also of Chippewa Falls, WI. Any information regarding these families or their descendants would be greatly appreciated.
