The Washington County website was updated today and a few more links added. The 1856 tax lists of taxpayers are now available for English River and Iowa Townships plus several links to the Archives and other Washington County Resources. We especially need IaGenWeb lookup volunteers who are either living in Washington County or who have Washington County resources or books at their disposal. If you can help out, I would like to hear from you so I can add your name to the Lookup page. We are in the process of rebuilding the Washington County after the former site had its services terminated with the server. All help is appreciated. http://www.rootsweb.com/~iawashin Norma Jennings

Dave, I am a subscriber to the Washington County, Iowa, list at RootsWeb, where I saw your query was posted. I'm going to the county genealogical library Saturday and will take your message along to see what I can find for you. If I'm not mistaken, all of the cemeteries in the county have been platted and transcribed, so I will check whether John and Sarah are definitely listed among those buried at Shiloh. Of course, as you write, most probably only those with headstones are listed in the books. But I will see what I can find on the church and cemetery. If you have anything more specific to relate, please do so before Saturday morning. -- Jeff ________________________ On Wed, 16 May 2001 20:48:34 -0600 "David L.
