Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/Warren/1263 Surname: Marsh, Smith ------------------------- My gggrandfather Abraham Marsh (Lucinda Ethridge) relocated to Warren County during the Civil War (from Dallas County, Missouri) because they had Union sympathies. He was accompanied by Jesse Marsh, who I believe to be his father. I would like to prove this. After the war Abraham and his wife/children moved back to Missouri because they owned land there and Lucinda's family was there. Jesse, however, remained in Warren County because he married a local, Martha A. Smith. He died there in 1871. I believe that the following Warren County records might exist that prove Jesse is Abraham's father: - Marriage record of Jesse and Martha (I know I can get this from the county). - Will of Jesse Marsh - Obituary of Jesse Marsh (Record-Herald & Indianola) Are there any Warren County Marshes out there??? Would love to know the answers! Thanks

Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/Warren/1250 Surname: Vanfleet ------------------------- Thanks for your response. JOHN WILLIAM VANFLEET, was born on 1 Feb 1870 in Palmyra, Warren Co. IOWA to JAMES KNOX POLK Vanfleet and Mary Matilda (McNeil) James KP& Mary, along with their 4 Children and their families went to Oklahoma in 1901. All settled in May, Harper Co., Oklahoma with the exception of Charles W.(born abt.1878)who went to Emmett, Idaho area with his wife's family the BROWNS'. A decendant of Lulu E.(dau. of James K.P.)can also verify these dates; she has documentation and has not been able to document at this time the link between James K.P. and his Father as Wesley except by "hear/say". I see the discrepcany of the marriage to Hannah Coles and you may be right that Wesley may had two (2)wives and maybe two(2) families and might explain why James is found in the household of Jeremiah when James is "4years of age".... The John you spesk of b 1856 with siblings "Daid;Martha;Mary;& Rose Anna (all et.1850-8)I do not have any info on BUT MAYBE their father WESLEY is One and the same Or another individual. HAVE any info. on a "ELLEN" as a wife of Wesley's. HOW ARE YOU RELATED TO THESE LINES? I have children for Wesley and Hannah Coles listed as: Barney abt 1840(Iowa);Frank abt 1842 (Iowa);W Lawerence abt 1844(Iowa);JAMES KNOX POLK 6 Nov 1845 Washington OHIO;Margaret abt 1864, Warren Co., Iowa;Ellsworth 11 April 1866, Warren Co., Iowa;Alice 1868 (Iowa); Emma;Eva, 1871, WarrenCo., Iowa;Ida, 1874, Warren Co. Iowa; Minnie, 1878, Warren Co., Iowa. SEE FamilySearch-Ancestral File FAMILY GROUP RECORD AFN:2J4R-0(zero)Q-Wesley Vanfleet. Let me know what physical address to send to and I'll make copies of my gatherings so farand send them to you to compare. I do have a few pictures I can get copies of if you what them. They are of the family in Oklahoma. Anyone out there could have the missing piece of information that will fill in the missing links for us... Let's Keep In Touch. Thanks again.
Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/Warren/1249 Surname: Vanfleet, McNeil, Pennington ------------------------- Thank you for the contact. I, too, am in a gathering stage. I have a copy of MARRIAGE RECORD OF James K.P. and Mary Matilda McNEIL (Jul 8 1869)Warren County, IOWA stating they joined in marriage at "JOHN JAMESON'S". It reads: "Given under my hand ..dated and signed "David Graig" (All writing being the sameas this person's signature on this form.) On the back is; "NO 87" their names and ages filled in; the date; 'WESLEY VAN FLEET' ATTESTING TO THEIR AGES..... DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE HIS SIGNATURE.....BUT FILLED IN AS WELL, but interestly not in the same handwriting as the front of the form by Mr. Graig. The back page may be Wesley Van Fleet's Handwritinig but it does not tell us that nor anything about who is to James K.P. only that he was there and is giving "testimony to 'their ages'[23 - James KP and 18 -Mary Matilda]on July 7, 1869.

Bloom from Warren County Iowa but my email won't go through to you so please get in touch with me. cony53@aol.com
I haven't posted this question for over a year, so maybe there are some new members that can shed some light on this line. My 2nd great grandparents were Plezza Morris and John Hughs/Hughes. They moved to Spring Hill (Warren Co., IA) in 1850 from Noble and Morgan Co., OH. They lived in Spring Hill the rest of their lives (over 50 years). They are buried in Web Hill Cemetery there. I can find the Hughs/Hughes family in Noble County but am having trouble with the Morris family in Morgan Co., OH. Her father was Abraham Morris according to the family Bible. Hopefully someone will recognize this Plezza Morris Hughs/Hughes. Joyce Wilson Prescott, AZ
