Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ia/Warren/11349 Surname: ANDERSON, BALDWIN, CHAMBERS, COOPER, HARRIMAN, HURLBUT, MOTE, WHITE ------------------------- Hi all, I am trying to locate any one who may be related in some way to brothers Gerald Ellsworth and William Cooper Baldwin. These brothers were the sons of John Ellsworth Baldwin and Mabel Cooper. Gerald was born about 1902. William married a woman named Alice. Gerald according to notes left by a deceased aunt had 5 childeren and William had 3. John Ellsworth Baldwin was the son of Marion Francis Baldwin and Anna Jane Mote. I am hoping as we all do to find some relative out there who can fill in some of my brink walls. Some of these brink walls include the grandparents of Marion Francis Baldwin. His father was Elijah Baldwin and mother was Parmelia Anderson. I have not been able to learn any information on the parents of Elijah and Parmelia. If anyone has any clues please contact me, I am very interested in sharing information and will be happy to email my web page to anyone who is related to any of the families I have listed. There are many more related families that I have not listed because I am not looking for information on them at this time. Thanks in advance Barbara My email adress is BarbnFamily@aol.com
Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ia/Warren/11348 Surname: COLE ------------------------- Right. I didn't notice you indicated Cole without an "s" at the end. I don't know if there would be any relation if it was just Cole. That might be a different family line altogether.
Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ia/Warren/11347 Surname: Cole, Bartlett, Nicol ------------------------- Thank you for all the info on Warren County Coles. I haven't had time yet to digest it but it is all good background info for me. I think my Eliza L. Cole was married to a Cole since she had children when my E. G. Bartlett married her. So I need to find a Mr. Cole who died after fathering children in 1862, 1864 and 1866.

Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ia/Warren/11345 Surname: SHUPE ------------------------- Thanks for the Shupe information. My parents want to take me to Iowa. I'm hoping to come there in September and look through records. I'm hoping to build a complete record on both the Shupe and Coles families in that County. I imagine most of the early Shupes of that county were Shupe/Conrad descendants of Fairfield Co. Ohio. I am currently looking at Emmanuel Shupe and Temperance Schaefer as the parents of Hannah Shupe. The Schaeffers were also of Fairfield Co. Ohio.
Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ia/Warren/11344 Surname: COLES ------------------------- I don't have your particular record. However, I'm pretty sure that most of the early Coles in Lacona and Liberty Center were descendants of Solomon Coles and wife Elizabeth who lived in Oxford Twsp. Guernsey Co. Ohio. Solomon's grandfather has been reported as Daniel Coles who married Dinah Boone, first cousin of Daniel Boone. Some of Solomon's children I believe went on to Warren Co. My ggg grandparents were James C. Coles and Mary Pierson who came to Liberty Center from Guernsey Cy. Solomon Coles himself obviously came to Warren Co., but his wife Elizabeth had died in Guernsey Co. Ohio. Solomon Coles had at least the following children: Isaac, Ester, Jesse, John, James C., Thomas, Mary, Benjamin, Sarah, and Elizabeth Ann. Some of them went with the Hall family from Guernsey to Warren Co. Then my great great grandparents, James and Mary Coles, came to Liberty Center. Their children that survived childhood were William Burr Coles, Levi Coles, Lydia Jane Coles, Benjamin Pierson Coles, died at 21 years old (1840-1862), Barton Coles, died at 21 years old (1841-1863) Elizabeth Ellen, Phebe Ann, Aaron, died at 26 years old (1845-1872). Mary Pierson's father was Benjamin Pierson and his wife was named Jane. I'm not sure how it was concluded that a certain Jane Burr then was her mother. Can anyone help? And that her father was William Burr. If true, it explains why she would name her first son William Burr Coles. Then another son Benjamin Pierson Coles for her father's name. Some of the Coles were buried at the Christian Neck Cemetery. I'm hoping to go to Iowa this fall. I may be also receiving more information so will check back with you. It seems as if any of Solomon Cole's grandchildren, including some who are not listed here, would have been of the appropriate age to be a father of Eliza L.

Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/Warren/11341 Surname: Longshore, Howe ------------------------- Tracy: My grandfather's (Clifford Howe, 1897-1974) mother was Estella Longshore (1/10/1867-12/22/1942). She married John Sloane Howe (1857-1943) and had four little Howe's. She had the following siblings: Viola S. Longshore (9/1/1852-6/15/1923) who married Harvey Mackey. Elnora Longshore (5/7/1856, Warren County, IA - 5/27/1929) who married Jacob Christian Rapp. Willie Bird Longshore (1858-?) Lula Longshore (11/6/1864 - 1/9/1920) who married James Marion Howe, brother of John Sloane Howe. Roberta Longshore (2/1869 - ?) who married William Hood. All the children were female, except Willie Bird, so the Longshore line ends here. I believe that Willie died in childhood, but I could be wrong. These childrens' parents were Robert Longshore (7/3/1831 in OH - 3/12/1869 in Indianola IA) and Jane Bird (12/21/1833 in OH - 12/31/1923 in KS). Posted on: Warren County, Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/Warren/11338 Surname: Durnal, Wright, Right, Wilson ------------------------- I have a copy of a letter, written June 6th 1854 by Josiah Wilson to Moses Durnal in which Josiah says, "I should like to take a peep at Iowa myself perhaps we may be neighbors if you have no objection. Well I would like to hear from you since you have returned what you think of Iowa by this time & when you expect to move there and whether there is any improvement in your land or not, in short tell us all you know about Iowa if it takes three sheets of paper." I am assuming this means that Moses had been to Iowa and returned to Ohio and was considering buying land in Iowa and moving there. I would like to correspond with anyone who has information on Moses and his wife, Sarah Wright/Right and learn more about this family. Moses' sister, Phebe, was the wife of the Josiah Wilson mentioned above. I have additional information on the Durnal family if anyone is interested.

Also does not give Volume and page numbers but IF you are just looking for a marriage or spouse - it's FREE and worth the time. Take care Marilyn
