Dear List: I am trying to help a friend in his search for his roots. The individuals that he is looking for are VANDELLO, Ralph T., who married ROSE, Mary Alice. They had a child by the name of Paul. Ralph died in 1899 and Mary died in the beginning of 1900. Ralph's father was VANDELLO, Henry with no information as to his wife. These individuals are on his paternal side of the family. On his maternal side is YOCHUM, Herman, who married RENFREW, Leona. They had a child by the name of Mary Ann. Both Herman and Leona is suspected as a death date of 1903. These two are to have lived in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa. This is all of the information that he gave me and know it is not alot. I have been able to find some things which I hope will help you get started. The following comes from a combination of Wapello county marriage records, WPA death records and Federal Census records. Ralph T. Vandello was the son of Henry Vandello and Magdalena G. Zimmerman. Henry and Magdalena were married sometime around 1894 in Wapello county. Henry's father was Cornelius Vandello born March 1841 in Holland and died 10 Jul 1901 in Ottumwa, Wapello county, Iowa. Henry's mother was Anna Bridget ____ born Sep 1844 in Mass. and died on 29 Aug 1922 in Ottumwa. Henry Vandello and Magdalena Zimmerman had at least the following children: 1. Bertha M. Vandello, born Mar 1895 in Wapello county, Iowa. She married Edward Kosman on 26 Jan 1921 2. Cornelius J. Vandello, born Oct 1896 in Wapello county, Iowa. He married Gertrude Kosman on 6 Oct 1920 3. Ralph T. Vandello, born Dec 1899 in Wapello county, Iowa. He married Mary A. Rose on 18 Nov 1922. They had at least one son, Wayne Vandello born abt 1927. 4. Theodore R. Vandello Henry had at least one brother, John Vandello, born abt 1868. Mary Alice Rose was the daughter of Harry Rose and Nellie Gosney. Harry and Nellie were married on 2 Jan 1887 in Wapello county. Harry's parents were Lauren E. Rose, a native of New York, and Zurilda F. Wilson, a native of Kentucky. Lauren and Zurilda were married on 1 Nov 1866 in Wapello county. Nellie's parents were Lafayette S. Gosney and Melinda Van Cleve, both natives of Kentucky. Lafayette and Melinda were married on 21 Dec 1865 in Wapello county. Harry Rose and Nellie Gosney had at least the following children 1. Melinda Rose, born abt 1891 in Wapello county. She married Elmer L. Ross on 26 Feb 1911 2. Cora Rose, born abt 1894 in Wapello county. She married Raymond E. Chick on 12 Dec 1917 3. Mary Alice Rose, born abt 1907 in Wapello county, Iowa Herman Yochum was the son of Sebastian Yochum and Bernadine Schmitz. Sebastian and Bernadine were married on 22 Oct 1900 in Wapello county. Sebastian was born in Austria abt 1869 and came to the U.S. in 1891. Bernadine was born in Germany in abt 1873 and came to the U.S. in 1896. Sebastian and Bernadine had at least the following children all born in Wapello county. 1. Joseph Yochum, born abt 1903. 2. Herman Yochum, born abt 1905. He married Leona V. Renfrew sometime after 1930. 3. Regina Yochum, born abt 1907 4. Lawrence Yochum, born abt 1908. 5. Carl S. Yochum, born abt 1910 6. Earnest C. Yochum born abt 1915 Leona V. Renfrew was the daughter of Lawrence Renfrew and Emma S. Abraham. Lawrence and Emma were married on 27 Jan 1909 in Wapello county. Lawrence and Emma had at least the following children all born in Wapello county. 1. Glenn O. Renfrew, born abt 1910. 2. Raymond Lawrence Renfrew, born abt 1914 3. Leona V.
